Got a jar of makers soaked cherries in a white elephant gift last year. They were awesome and I actually caught a little buzz off of cherries. Then I made the exact drink you described and got blasted.

I have a couple extra bottles of bourbon around from when I was being a supportive, not getting drunk while my wife was pregnant husband, although my Dad kept bringing me bottles now and then. I may give this a try. Would cherries from Publix work fine, or is there a certain type to look for?

Bing cherries are just fine. Remove pits and stems and steep in a carafe until October.

Strain and serve.

W's Cherry Bounce:

In a large carafe, place stemless and pitted cherries with whiskey.

1 to 1 ratio.

Let steep in cool, dry and dark place from June until October.

In October, strain cherries from whiskey using cheesecloth.

Add simple syrup to sweeten for your taste.

Howl at the moon.

When I get home, I'll add a photo of my cherry bounce in progress.

The return will be easily worth the investment you make.

The end result is so smooth.

Take care, it'll sneak up on you.

Transfer concoction into something like this to serve, if you're feeling fancy:

I can remember when I was a child, all of those pictured were full of homemade wine and bounce.
