I searched the board and couldn't find anything

Can anyone tell me how? Don't you do it in a crock pot? I never tried to make them before

Ok but how much? In a big crawfish pot or a pot on the stove? How long? Etc etc etc

Make sure they're clean, cover with plenty of water, salt well, bring to a boil and then simmer for about two hours or more, until tender. Some use a little crab boil or cayenne for a kick...I prefer just salt. They do take a lot of salt.

about a quarter cup of salt per pound of peanuts

but it's a personal preference thing... just adjust that baseline based on how your first batch comes out

I usually boil a sack of peanuts in a large pot outside. Add 1 bottle crab boil and a whole can of salt. Takes 2-3 hours depending on how you like them. You can do the same inside on the stove for a smaller portion but the crab boil will stink up your house if you use too much.

holy shite. I bet those bitches are HOT.

I'm not a pro but this is how I do em. Clean em. Throw em in a pot on a fish fry burner outside. Cover with water (several inches above when u push them down) salt water until it tastes salty (like the gulf). Boil like that for a couple hours until tender...

When you salt the water you can add liquid crab boil if you'd like. I usually do a couple cap fulls or a small ceremonial pass.. Taste the water to your liking and roll with it.

All recipes will vary according to pot size and amount of water needed for nuts

My grandmother cooks them in a pressure cooker... Not sure what equipment u have over there but that was the most efficient way (pawpaw grew em so they had a lot to boil)

You need to have green peanuts, not raw. That makes for a much better batch.
You can only get green peanuts June through September. I buy a shite load of them and freeze them.

I figure for a two pound batch, I boil for 1.5 hours then let soak for 30 minutes.

I like them plain jane. A little salt and boil them for 2 hours to keep the crunch. I never liked them cajun style or soft.

I boil them til they sink. I find that's when they can start soaking. Also I sometimes add cooked bacon along with a little crab boil.

This may be a dumb question, but do you freeze them after boiling or freeze them raw and boil them later?

It works either way. I think it comes out a little better to freeze them raw.
