Hell yea. I use to love going there. You never know what you were going to get. It was either going to be extremely chill or a complete shitfest
Four people just sat down for lunch out there, so I can definitely confirm it is open again.

As noted, it has reopened and they did a really nice job on the makeover.

-OvenBird is a must IMO
-Saw's Soul Kitchen in Avondale (best wings I've ever had but everything is amazing)
-Barrio or Rojo for Mexican/southwest
These are my personal favorites.

Wow, some really great recommendations in here. Thanks all. If anyone is planning to go to Birmingham anytime soon you should bookmark this thread. And you should go sooner rather than later imo.
Got in Friday and had a couple of beers at Hop City, then hit up Trimtab before Ubering to Fancy's. Great burger and very cool vibe. Good local beer selection as well.
Saturday we hit Saws in Avondale at 11:00 and caught the first half of the game. Maybe the best wings I've ever had. Blown away. Stopped by Avondale brewery and watched some of the second half. Very very cool spot that was kid and dog friendly with a kickass courtyard ... would've spent more time here but the beer was mediocre and it was time to park the car and start ubering again. Went to Good People and watched some of the
Auburn game. They had a BBQ food truck out front but we didn't partake. It looked and smelled fantastic though. From there we went to Paramount and took in the rest of the afternoon games. This was a pretty cool place with lots of TVs... highly recommend on a game day. They also had what I consider really good bar food. You'll need something to absorb the alcohol because the drinks were STIFF. My Uber receipt says we left at 9:15 (we are old and this is considered hard in the paint for us), and we just settled for Mellow Mushroom at Five Points.
Woke up this morning and drove to Mountain Brook for brunch at Avo. Whoever recommended this, thank you. It was money. And lol at the line at Broken Egg. We walked right into Avo.
Only regret is that we didn't hit up Ovenbird. We were in rare form Saturday night and it was in the plans, but I think we made the right choice.
Again, thanks to everyone who gave recs.

Still cash only?

It's rewarding when the OP closes the loop with a post-action report. Thanks and come back soon.

Ha, I hate when someone asks for recommendations and doesn't report back in some form or fashion. I didn't take pics but that's not my style. Whatever. Thankful for the recs

For your next trip there are a few places not mentioned that I would recommend:
Mr Ps Deli in Bluff Park (Rib Eye sandwich with au ju is a must) but all of them are great.
Boatengs in Bessemer (shrimp and grits are the best I've had).
and for BBQ, north of the city, Exit 287 off 65 North, hwy 31 (beeline hwy) is a place called Top Hat BBQ. Get a fried pie too.

Damn man! You guys did it up right. Only misstep IMO was Mellow Mushroom but even that can be forgiven after 10 hours + of beer drinking. Nice work!
