We recently bought a Food Saver and we are loving this thing, but we are trying to figure out what is the best way to clean a bag.

I have read several suggestions on line but the best seems to put them in the washing machine with some old towels, but it didn't say whether to use detergent, dish powder, or Dawn. I am guessing a few drops of Dawn.

I have a friend that buys the Zip Lock vacuum bags, they are cheaper, so you can just throw them away when done. She said they work fine.

So these Ziploc bags work on the Food Saver system? I just looked some up, they are about $1 a bag for gallon bags, $0.26 for quart bags.

I bought 5-6 boxes when they were on fire sale on the foodsaver website- I can't imagine washing the bags and reusing them. Most of mine contained raw chicken/beef- not worth reusing to me

Look on ebay and Amazon and you can buy no-name brand compatible bags for cheap

I buy quart sized bags for something like 15/100 or something.

I just throw them away after using though

I get the roll and make the bags myself... Not expensive enough to think about reusing bags

I still have more than two rolls left (rarely use it anymore) always cut own bags and never reused them.
