I just heard of and went to the Beverage Store on Florida for the first time, and the selection was awesome and the prices very reseaonable. Got a Stone Russian Imperial Stout and a Stone RuinTen IPA.

Any better place any town? Any more hidden gems?

I am sure this has been discussed on here before, but I don't frequent these parts often.

I don't know if they are gems, but they do get stuff most other places don't get.

Right now i believe the top stores are (in order)

Calandro's Perkins
Cuban Liquor
Beverage Store (never been but i hear good things)
Alexander's/Matherne's (tie)

We are limited to what we get here in Louisiana. But when something new comes out, these stores usually always have it. I believe Calandro's may be the reason we are getting hoptimum this year. One of the distributors ordered too much Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, and wasn't going to order any Hoptimum until they got rid of the stock. Calandro's bought it up last week, so we should be seeing hoptimum soon.

So is there a Bigfoot beer sale I need to know about?

Bev store has THE lowest prices. If they don't have what you are looking for, you can usually ask for it.

To echo the earlier comments: Calandro's on Perkins is the best, followed by Cuban Liquor. Matherne's on Bluebonnet is good, but the prices seem to be a little bit higher than everywhere else. Whole Foods has a good selection. I went into the Beverage Store briefly yesterday for the first time in a while. It was OK, but I need to check it out more. And if you're going to a national grocery store, Albertson's has a way better beer selection than Winn Dixie, Wal-Mart and Target.

One thing i want to add.

Beer freshness, aka turnover.

If you are a hop fanatic be weary of where you get your beers. Calandro's has a very good rate of turnover, so you typically won't find many ipa's brewed in 2011/ early 2012 still for sale.

Cuban is also good at this. Whole foods, i'd make sure to check the date. I swear i've seen the same 6 packs still sitting in the beer section from 2 years ago. But i rarely buy my beer from here, so i could be mistaken.

I need to check out Calandros on Perkins I guess. The one on Government is pretty good I know.

If you think the Calandro's on Government has a pretty good selection, your mind is going to be blown when you go to the good Calandro's.

Not exactly how it works. We are getting screwed because of the mismanagement of crescent crowns person over their craft beer
