Any Mississippi natives willing to give their opinion of the best place to find a steak. So far I have heard a lot of buzz about Tico's and Shapley's for the best steaks. Most of the info i've heard about Shapley's comes from Bo Bound's sports radio broadcast.... but then again the show is sponsored by Shapley's so it may be a biased opinion.

Shapleys is good.... Has a bit of an Au Jus w it. Ive had some really good steaks at Char, but some mediocre. Its hit or miss, but when it hits its great. Had a good one at Parker House. There is a Ruths n Madison/Ridgeland.

Not a Jackson resident, but used to eat there often.

Coater can prolly tell u.

Shapley's and Ely's are the best IMO. Tico's is very overrated and is popular on this site because the owner went to LSU. Very often they pull the steak right out of the fridge before cooking. If you are a Rare plus kind of patron, its still very cold.

Yes, Tico's is the answer. Never had a bad meal there.

I've also heard about "Doe's" in Greenville. Y'all heard of it?

Doe's in Greenville is an awesome experience. Especially if you know what you're getting into. It's a shack in a ghetto with huge cuts of bloody meat, and byob liquor, for starters.

There are also other Doe's locations, including one in BR that wasn't nearly as good as the one in Greenville.

Best steak I ever had in the Delta though was at the Bourbon Mall... RIP

Can't go wrong with shapley's, ely's, or Ruth's.

I agree that tico's is overrated. I'd pass on char also. Walker's often has a good bone-in ribeye special that's solid.

I agree with Coater, except for Char. Their Cowboy Ribeye is pretty damn good. But you can't go wrong with Ely's or Shapley's. Not a fan of Tico's.

Ely's for me.

edited to add.

Coater mentioned Walker's and I agree. Nice place. Not what I would think of when I think of Steak, but as usual, he is correct.

I've heard Walker's is really rich at night.

Their blue plate is great.

I like Tico's but agree that Shapleys, Elys, Walkers and Char all offer great steaks. Ruth's was mentioned and while good it is more of a chain IMHO, whereas the five mentioned previously are local only.

Its been nearly 10 years but the steak I had at Walkers was great, hope they still have a solid reputation and a good meal.
