Best Restaurant Steak in BR

I am taking the wife out this weekend for a special occasion, and would like to have a nice steak. I am pretty fond of cooking my own steak at home, but sometimes you gotta please the missus. I know Ruth's Chris is the "big name" place, but I find it to be hit or miss. Is there a nice place here in BR or would it be worth the drive to New Orleans for a nice dinner and evening out?
FYI our favorite restaurant is Vic & Anthony's in Houston.

Hit or miss for steaks? Can you explain?

It may not be known as steakhouse but Louisiana Lagniappe's are great. My favorite steak dinner in B.R is their Tournedos(beef medallions) Oh yeah and Doe's would be at the bottom of my list too.

I would pick Fleming's for the best.

Can't gro wrong with Flemings, Sullivan's or Ruth's
Nola has better options like Mr. John's, La Boca, Commanders, etc

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris a few times, Sullivan's once and I prefer Doe's. Never had a problem with how they cooked it

Did you send it(them) back? I've had a "bad steak" at every steakhouse in town......a lot of times it's just the server putting the wrong plate in front of the wrong customer on larger tables. It's certainly not 5 star service, but I think they achieve the truest temperature in the city.

I was going to take a shite on Doe's but decided "Hey, they are just people trying to make a living. Just because I don't like the place doesn't mean I should bash it."

I did not because I didn't want to wait another 30-40 mins for my steak while everyone in my party was eating. I've talked to several people that have echoed my experiences.
