Or close by?
Bringing friends from Ohio. They been to prejeans and blue dog. Looking for something else, or should we stick with one of these two?

I would take them The French Press and/or Bread and Circus Provisions.

What kinda food? "Louisiana" options that would give them a good sample size:
Social
Jolie's Bistro
T-Coons Crawfish Omelette bfast
Old Tyme Grocery for Poboy
Bon Temps for more casual
Crawfish - Several good ones

Fezzos in Scott or Shucks in Abbeville for seafood. French Press or Social for brunch.

Kidding. Good suggestions above.
Maybe Riverside Inn?

No, shucks fricking sucks.
I've heard that Black's (Abbeville) new chef is pretty good. I'll be able to drop some real knowledge in about a month.
In Lafayette I'd go to Social, Village Cafe, Pamplona, or French Press if I was going to have a nice dinner. Johnson's Boucaniere if I was looking for a lunch option.

I used to think this but last time I was in (Christmas time) I felt they stepped their game up. Seems like David is doing good things there finally. Have not been to the new Blacks yet. Since Mr Blacks son closed and sold it years ago, a few people have tried and failed miserably to make it into a good restaurant. I guess that is why I am a bit skeptical but also can't wait to try it out. Man, Black's was so amazing back in the day. A lot of memories there. Dupuis (my first choice), Richards, Shucks and apparently Black's are all good choices.

The chef (or cook) at Dupuy's is now at Black's.
I haven't been to Shucks in forever because I thought it was terrible. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
