Hey Guys,

I'm heading home to Baton Rouge for the holidays and I'm basically giving everyone in my family bourbon or scotch. Rather than flying down with checked bag full of liquor bottles, I figure I'm going to do my shopping down there.

What are the best liquor stores in terms of both price and selection in BR?

Thanks for the help

Y'all have a Marcelo's there now, right?

If yes, then go there.

Martin's had a good selection when I was in there yesterday. Picked up Black Maple Hill (gift, I'm already working on mine) and 4 Roses Single Barrel. Also had some other favorites like Noah's Mill and Rowan's Creek. Got my Elmer T and Rock Hill Farms at Whole Foods on Friday (I'm loading up while the selection is good).

Calandro's usually has a really good selection as well.

Believe it or not, Calvin's Bocage Market has some of the best prices in town and a very decent selection of high-end liquor. My everyday bourbon is $19.99 at Calvin's vs. $25.99 at Hi-Nabor and $22.99 at Albertson's

Was just talking to the guy at Calandro's. They had one bottle of George T. Stagg and a couple of Eagle Rare 17 that got bought as soon as they put it out this week. I've got to get CJ warning me about that like he does about new beer releases.

Done. Should have mentioned that Calandro's did have several bottle of Jefferson Presidential Select 18 yo, which is VERY top end (made at the same distillery as Pappy). I can let that word out now that I got mine.

Cuban Liquor on Perkins has a pretty good selection. Calvin's Bocage, as mentioned before, has good prices on common liquors. They make up for it by having overpriced wine.

Went to Calandro's to get some of the Jeff Pres. Stuff is really good. Ask then redbreast guy about Pappy and he said they weren't gonna get any. Imagine that

Cuban Liquors and Martin Wine Cellar both have nice selections and knowledgeable staff. Martin has really good prices. I got a bottle of Bulleit Rye for $21 last week.

LSURJP-did you get the last one? I dashed back over and grabbed another for a friend in Houston that's been unable to find Pappy anywhere and wanted to try the Jefferson.

I noticed they had a bottle of Elijah Craig 20 yo. I've been wanting to try that, but I'm bourbon poor already this weekend.
