I really enjoy Garcia's on 190 in Covington. They have excellent complimentary salsa and bean dip when you are seated. The cheese dip is very good as well.

I usually get their steak fajita wrap for a lunch dish. It is divine.

They have a LaCaretta in Mandeville and Covington, Sombrero's in downtown Covington, some place by my office on 59, and a few other places around. None of them are as good as Garcias's to me.

George's and La Noria (my personal fav) in Mandeville are so much better than La Carreta. I honestly don't know how people eat the stuff served at Carreta.
Haven't been to Garcias since they moved north, but the were always consistent.
If you want to drive for 15 minutes, check out Pepe's in LaCombe.
Tacos an Winos is fun, and the tacos are pretty good.

Taqueria La Noria

Go here (it's on Highway 59 in Mandeville) if you want authentic al pastor, lengua, barbacoa tacos, menudo soup, etc. You can still get the sorry arse tex-mex style that everyone expects and loves.

The state of what passes for Mexican food in America is sad. No real Mexican uses sour cream, yellow shredded cheese, hamburger meat or shredded chicken breasts. (I base this on being half-Mexican and working in various parts of Mexico for 4 yrs.)

Garcia's...You can actual look in their kitchen and see them cooking the food other than taking it off a bulk buffet in the kitchen like Carretas...

I will try Garcia's but that menu looks like extremely Americanized Tex-Mex. Sorry, that is not authentic Mexican food. That probably satisfies the white suburban crowd who have never experienced true Mexican cuisine.
