You do realize that every Tex-Mex place shops with Sysco, yes?

None of the cooks at Mi Padre's are Middle Eastern.

You can't break up a sentence that was presented as one statement into multiple parts and try to attack it out of context, friend.

If you don't like it, don't go.

But when Mexicans want tamales at a Tex-Mex restaurant, they go there to get them fresh. Made by honest-to-goodness Mexicans.

Jamal Roman is a massive tool. That he owns it doesn't make the food any less delicious.

dos hermanos is a good user friendly "mexican" spot. juanitos is good. just don't try to call in a take out order unless you speak spanish.

Would doing that have been better?

I don't go b/c I think the food sucks and it seems low quality to me even by Tex Mex standards. I'm just surprised that you like it b/c you're normally solid when it comes to Latin-American stuff.

True. The fact that his food sucks is coincidental. It does make me less likely to patronize any of his establishments though.

If you're talking taquerias, there are plenty of great places in town.

We go to Tacos & Burritos Express for king burritos. La Tiendita for breakfast, Mi Pueblito for dinner tacos, El Limon for pork tacos.

I used to go to Juanitas years ago, but got food poisoning a couple of times. Haven't been back since.

I'm Hispanic, but there are a few places in town that are English-friendly. Namely Tacos & Burritos Express, La Tiendita.

I tried a phone-in order at Juanito's about a year or two ago. My spanish stinks. The lady on the phone couldn't (or wouldn't) speak English. All I got was a couple of loud "no se(s)!" and a slaming of the phone. I figured they didn't want my business that day. Either that or I should have offered to pay in pesos. Annoying, but funny.

I've never drank alcohol before, so no idea.

I don't share your opinion. Taste is subjective, I'm not going to be angry if you don't go there

Juanita's is pretty hidden as it is, they'll make money whether or not English speakers eat there.

Tacos & Burritos Express, La Tiendita and Mi Pueblito want English-speaking business. The family that owns La Tiendita grew up in this country, they speak English like anyone else.

When it was Mexican-owned, it was pretty good.

Some Colombian friends of mine own it now, they've molded it more into a place for people to drink and hang out. I don't go there for the Mexican food anymore, I go there because they offer a couple of authentic Cuban dishes (ropa vieja).

Montana's Colombian restaurant on Coursey just closed, so if you want Colombian food, you'll have to go to Fernando's now.

I love the food at Coyote Blues. Terrific manager there, too.

Went there and the waitress didn't speak any English. I tried to order a bistec and got pork instead. I ordered a Coke and they brought it w/o ice, then it took me like two minutes to convey that I would like ice in my Coke. At the end, they overcharged me by about $5 but I knew that it wasn't worth the hassle to try to argue the amount w/ the language barrier so I said frick it and just didn't tip.

Been to Mi Reyna's (sp?) on Perkins a couple of times and it was excellent IMO.

La Reyna, by Siegen and Perkins, is one of the best Mexican/Latin places in BR. The sad thing is no body even knows about it.
