If you like Tex Mex, go to Mi Padre's on Bluebonnet.

Good food, very consistent, great steak dishes. When any of my Mexican buddies want to go somewhere to get tamales, we all to Mi Padre's and get their $20 platter of them.

Not to be pedantic, but it's on Airline

Rio Grande is the second oldest Mexican restaurant in BR. Mexican owned, lots of the food from scratch, but it's honestly average at best.

Shitty food. People only go there to drink.

I gotta say, I'm disappointed in you here. I thought you knew Mexican food better than that. That place sucks arse. Seriously might be the worst Mexican I've had in Baton Rouge.

Rio Grande is horrible IMO. kid you not, they use Pace Pacante sauce for their salsa and the refried beans are straight out of a tin can. go see for yourself.

Most of my Mexican friends would disagree with you.

When I eat Mexican, I go to taquerias. In the rare instances that I eat Tex-Mex, my friends and I will go to Mi Padre's first.

I don't get the hate for Superior. they were always pretty consistent to me. love their brisket tacos.

Aztecas in the Hammond Air shopping center has the best fajitas in town. the rest of the food isn't that good though.

It's good, not great. Mexican owned, a lot of Mexican patrons. It's all the way on Jones Creek, though. If I'm going to drive way out there, I'll just go to El Limon taqueria down the street (best pork tacos in BR).

Ahuuas is opening up a new location on Perkins at Essen this month or next, the owner told me that he was waiting on some permits to get approved. The difference is that this location will be more Tex-Mex friendly, it's not going to have a taqueria vibe.

I don't have any Mexican friends but I have a lot of friends that love Mexican food like I do. When we want Mexican/Tex Mex, our first choice is not prepackaged food heated and put on a platter by Middle Easterners, but to each his own.
