You can just throw it in on a plate and do that. I do it all the time.

I have a couple of items I inherited from my grandparents that are from TV infomercials that I actually use and enjoy:
Donvier ice cream maker (2 of the freezer cylinders):
I put milk, sugar, vanilla extract, a bit of corn starch into a blender and make a smooth textured ice milk almost nightly in the deep heat of the summer. (for variety I add cocoa powder, fresh picked mint leaves). For a creamier texture pour instant pudding mix into blender :CosbyPuddingPopFace:
And a Mouli which I like better than a box or flat grater:
Hash browns in minutes, or scalloped potatoes fast mainly.
Both have the "as seen on TV" boxes.
ETA: I also have some fishing lures and hooks from an old infomercial. It's weighted hooks with the lead around the hook shanks flattened like a wing, supposedly to fall opposite direction from normally weighted worms and jigs so they "fly underwater" to get underneath docks/cover. Pics would be for outdoor board though.

put it in the microwave for 4 minutes
A potato cooked unwrapped in the microwave will not be cooked anything like one cooked in the potato express.

Worst case, throw some Saran Wrap around it.
This is how I used to do it before getting the PE. Believe me it is much easier to throw the potato in a pouch and put in the microwave than to wet the potato, wrap it, poke holes and finally put in the microwave.
The PE cooks great potatoes for multiple uses, is as easy as snapping your fingers and over time will save a lot of money for me since I won't have to buy Handi/Saran wrap for potatoes anymore.

infomercial about the "copper pot" the other day, and now I want one.
well I let the little old lady talk me into the "Red Copper" skillet. Thing works as advertised. Now I'm thinking about the big square deep sided one that the douchey guy is selling.

the ceramic knife that you can now buy for $13 at target is the best thing i've seen that originated on an infomercial.

Aren't you supposed to NOT cover food with that in the microwave? I heard it can melt and give you aids or something like that.
