Well I'm staying in Dallas Monday and half of Tuesday. I'm going to go to pecan lodge Tuesday. Then the rest of the week we are staying at my brothers house in Fort Worth

I was looking at going there on my last visit but was warned that it can be a rough part of town. Any validity to that? I did drive by it and it didn't look too bad.

It's in Deep Ellum, which if you wander off the main roads can get a little bit sketchy, but I don't think you really have a whole lot to worry about over there. It's mostly just kind of an alternative scene area so a lot of skinny jeans and tattoos. If you've been anywhere in New Orleans, you would laugh at the idea of that area being scary.

I'm a 160 pound white guy with a baby face and I've never thought twice about walking around in that area, even at night.

I'll second Jimmy's, great place to grab a sandwich and a beer. I had a philly roast pork yesterday.

La Banqueta has the best tacos IMO. I'll add Good 2 Go for fancy tacos and Dairy-Ette for the best burger.

Go to adair's in deep Ellum for a beer and some live music and order their burger--underrated. It's a huge, thick patty, served with a grilled jalapeño on the side.

The baby back shack is in south Dallas and it's an unknown and cheap place for bbq.

Maple and motor is an old gas station turned into burger place. Decent.

Tillman's roadhouse is a good spot in oak cliff--they do a chicken fried ribeye that they call chicken fried steak. Trio of fries for an appetizer with homemade ketchup. For dessert they do table side smores--bring out a little fire pit for the table top.

I'm a fan of the rooftop and live piano/music at terilli's on lower Greenville. Decent Italian for a good price--

Pecan lodge of course

Tons of great places. Enjoy!
