Budlight with some crab boil in it. Plug the neck hole with a potato or a piece of foil

Waiting for a clever dump out the bud light and pour some ghost in it comment

Myth 4: Beer can chicken
"Beer can chicken is a waste of good beer and an inferior cooking method," writes Meathead. The method — inserting a half-full can of beer into a bird's cavity, ostensibly to create a beer-flavored steam and thus keeping the poultry moist and juicy — "is a fallacy. You've just made a beer koozie out of a whole bird." The bird insulates the beer, preventing it from reaching its boiling point — if it never boils, it never steams. In fact, the inside of the bird, plugged by the beer, may tend toward undercooked. "Even if it did boil, the only part of the bird to get a flavor boost from steamed beer would be the shoulders, and that's a big if," said Meathead. "It's just wrong from a hundred different viewpoints."
I don't necessarily agree with all of the myths on this link, but I definitely do on this one.

I don't really agree with the myth busters thing, but I don't think the beer can deal really does a whole lot either. You can definitely get the beer to boil and create steam, especially if you plug the neck hole. The steam will actually push your potato plug out of the neck if you don't have it wedged in there good. Also, the bird most certainly picks up some of the beer/crab boil flavor. Really the best thing about the beer can method is you can stand the birds up and fit more on the grill at one time. I would brine the bird first regardless of how you cook it. Brining will do way more than a beer can.

Agreed. I think the best way to cook a whole chicken is to spatchcock it. It does limit space on the grill if that's an issue.

Or to cook it in pieces.

I drink the beer and put apple cider vinegar and water in it.

i originally heard to do this with cokes.
then water in a coke can.
then beer.
its more a 'prop' to hold the chicken up than anything else.

None unless you like rubbery skin. Spatchcock FTW.

steam is 100% water vapor.
there is no such thing as "beer steam"
the chicken is not getting seasoned in any way from the steam from a beer can...it is only getting moisture at 212 deg F
the crab boil you are putting in the beer can is not being vaporized in any way

Do this: put crab boil in a beer can, stick it in a chickens arse, plug the neck and put it on a grill. Cook it till 160ish. Tell me you can't pick up some beer/crab boil flavor. If you can't you have some body parts that don't function.

Idk a damn thing about the science behind it, but I love making beer butt chicken with Sapporo. It always turns out very juicy and tender, but maybe I'm just getting lucky.

Sorry Balls. Science wins. Go get yourself a corndog and slush and cool off.
