Followed you here...

I can break down all of the food options...but it really depends on what you're looking for.

The best spot in town is the back patio at the Sycamore House, good drinks and apps...inside is more fine dining.

The best coastal style food is at Trapani's...they do all sorts of fried trout dishes (amandine, eatery (hollandaise with shrimp). They have an upstairs bar that can be nice outside.

The Blind Tiger is the spot to dine overlooking the harbor. Fish tacos, great fries, cool outside bar.

200 N. Beach has the nicest bar in town. Food is good, may be geared to the older crowd as far as consistency over creativity.

For poboys Lil Joes in the Depot.

(Each spot has it's goods and bads...I could go into them if you've narrowed down what you may want.)

I'd hit multiple spots if I were you. Probably will be an outside open mic at Mockingbird...and the play (which generally lasts too long for one night in town) is running.

Only place where reservations are recommended is the Syc house...you don't need them, but they might give you attitude if you don't have them. If you want to sit on the back patio you can do that unannounced, I'd just go around the back and talk directly to the bar tender. They have killer pizzas as well.

You should hit TBT, 200, and Traps even if it's just the bar at each. We'll likely be out and about as well.

The Depot district is interesting to bar hop in as well...cheaper to drink generally.

Just curious, It seems like everything is walking distance from the Bay Inn??

I figured you probably walk less than you would being in the quarter

Is it safe too?

What else is in the depot district besides Lil Joes? You recommend the poboys there. Anything to avoid there? We might head that way tonight.

Everything gaston said plus if you want the best burger you've ever had, go to mockingbird cafe. Even better if it's a night with live music.

It's absolutely all walking distance, the Depot District via the duck pond is about as far you'll have to walk. The Alice Mosely museum is worth the walk over there mid-day.

It's absolutely safe. The Depot district bars used to get bad late, but they shut the worst bar down and turned it into live country music.

The Ugly Pirate is on the street you'll park on, it's a neat place to stop in for a beer.

TONS of antique stores in town.

Here's the best local blog calendar.

There's a new bar called Sideways, they serve bar food and have a small back patio area.

Blaize Avenue bar is a dive bar to play pool at, late night fun with the locals.

Lil Joes will have live music on the bar side...great foosball tables and competition if gets going, usually royal reds in the restaurant side, great crawfish when in season.

The Zoo is a much danker dive bar than Blaize, but sometimes the night calls for that sort of place...Coolest bartenders on that stretch usually.

They're about to open a restaurant in the old Jacks, hopefully it'll be good.

Triple tails is the new bar on the harbor, I think only the third floor is open right now.

Old Cuevas Bistro is opening soon in Old Town, it's going to be awesome to have them there.

They only do breakfast on Sundays...it's a GREAT spot for coffee and a muffin. The two tables on the front porch are perfect.

Yea that place used to get absolutely nutty when they had DJs. I think the shooting was some total idiot who brought a gun with him...got into a fight, but before blows were thrown gave his gun to a friend to hold...friend 'accidentally' discharges the weapon into total idiot.

It was bad though.

Place was completely gutted and is now a country bar. We usually leave when the music gets cranked up though. Solid food, and a good place for day games.

Old Cuevas Bistro is opening, but I didn't think it was open yet.

The Starfish Cafe and The Syc House are the only two full restaurants, though I'm not sure when the Starfish is open (maybe just lunch). Lulu's is open sometimes as well, they're vegetarian based (though proteins can be added to most everything on request). He was likely talking about the Starfish. Their menu often looks interesting.
