I'm not old enough to go to Reeve's, I'm under 60. Last time I was there it thought I was in some kind of hospice/grocery store hybrid.

Let me just say, anyone who eats a king cake before January 6 hates America.

The reason is Jan 6th is the Feast of the Epiphany or All King's Day. It is not traditional to have King Cake prior to that date or after Mardi Gras. You can be a gluttonous pig and break with tradition, it depends on how you were raised and if you can find black market king cakes from the Colombian cartel.

Little store on Highland near the Shell station (by Blue Bayou)...........We're Cooking Now is the name.

They make great King Cakes, all flavors. Kinda expensive but very good.

Also a great place to get lunch, the CLUB is money

FYI Ambrosia has moved from Perkins to Siegen, had a long thread on here this week about customer service

My Favorite King Cake comes from Ralph's in Gonzales, but as said earlier Fresh is Key

Absolutely! And the best apple fritter you ever had your way with too. And Ernie and crew could not be any nicer (well, except for that morning after one of Crazy Charlie's parties... )

Damn-same day as we ride in Spanishtown again!

Maybe we will make the afterparty instead of going out in downtown BR after the parade like we usually do. Depends on where the Happy's girls riding on our float want to go-need to follow that stuff around while it's there.

Nat-you going to the Tin Lizzys Christmas party tonight? Sounds like there will be a good crowd...

Chef's Fried Chicken makes a hell of a kingcake!

If you should happen to find yourself in Donaldsonville its definitely worth a stop; despite the local "scenery" surrounding the place. Both the unfilled and filled are equally good. Another good place is Creative Cakes by Vickie in Plaquemine. She is kinda pricey, but well worth it for a fresh, delicious king cake.

doubt it will be as good as TL, especially since Charlie isn't doing one this year. You should come out there after-we might even get a late close at Warsaw going afterwards. Look for the group with 5 hot blondes and 4 doofuses. My buddy's wife is like 9 feet tall with 8 foot of it legs, so you can't miss us.

Meche's is a King donut, not a cake. I bought one there 2 years ago and when I got to the office and opened it, I was embarrassed.

Their donuts are great, but that isnt a king cake.
