My arse was tore up last night by Popeye's, and I'm done with that hell hole. It was a fun weekend until that point.

On Friday, I scooted out of the office a little early to celebrate love winning. I went to the French 75 bar to grab a few drinks. The door was locked and I had to check my calendar to make sure they weren't doing 4th of July cleaning. They just had forgot to unlock the door.

I grabbed an El Guapo. It had Beam, maraschino and rosemary. It was very good. After the first one went down, I ordered another with some cheese puffs and fried shrimp with brie and jalapeno. They were both very appetizing.

From there I ran to Lafitte's in Exile to capture the moment. I grabbed a couple High Lifes. Never order cocktails there. They measure every pour and it's a ripoff. The sidewalks were so pretty.

We had reservations at Meaux Bar and had a few minutes to kill. I met my bartender at Lafitte's for a quick Beam.

We then walked to dinner. I hugged the shade. I quickly perused the menu and ordered an old fashion. I believe it was made with Benchmark.

For the first round, I went with the burrata and crab gnocchi. Both dishes were great and perfect for the hot weather. I'd eat that burrata all day every day.

For my second round, I went with a cheese tart and sweetbreads. I could have done without the tart; I didn't enjoy it that much. The sweetbreads were outstanding, and I enjoyed the addition of blueberries.

For dessert, we ran to Emeril's for banana cream pie. I got another old fashion and kicked back.

We went home to pass out. On Saturday, I awoke to run some errands. While in Mid City, I grabbed a sausage biscuit at Biscuits and Buns on Banks. The biscuit was good, but the sausage was interesting to me. Next time, I'd like order it with bacon. The home fries were very good as well. I was disappointed to see Banks St Bar was not open yet. So I drove home with my meal to grab some Beam.

After cleaning the house, I ran to Butcher for lunch. We decided we should check out the D Day museum. The lines were long, so I ran to the bar and grabbed two seats. They had a ton of volleyball players in town, and I think most decided to eat here.

I got a cocktail with Slow and Low. It was good. I ordered pimento sliders, baked macaroni and boudin. The lady ordered cold roast beef. All were good. The sliders were covered in butter and would be great for a hangover. I enjoyed the boudin, and the macaroni was amazing.

We grabbed a couple of beers for the ride to the museum. It was too fricking hot outside. The museum was packed. We skipped a lot of people in line buy ordering our tickets online in the museum. Will call had them ready in a matter of time.

I couldn't handle the crowd, but the museum had some great pieces. I will have to go again on a slow day to truly enjoy it.

From there, we walked to the Rusty Nail for a few drinks. I grabbed a few John Daly's. They were refreshing.

After the storms rolled through, we ran home to shower and head out Uptown. We stopped in Superior for margaritas and chips. I also got some queso to mix together with the salsa.

After a couple rounds, we decided to get some beef tacos. They were decent, but the beans were terrible. They didn't have any seasoning to them.

From there, we walked to Mayfair. It was pretty odd in there. I've never seen so many frat stars in there. I had a shot and a beer and had to get out.

From there, we ran to Grits. It was empty, but the beer was cold. The little lady was starting to struggle and couldn't keep up any more. She wanted Wendy's. I grabbed a couple cheeseburgers and fries. I love their fries with their chili sauce.

I passed out around 11 and slept hard. I awoke on Sunday for mass. After mass, I ran to Lafitte's alone. My buddy had some leftover bacon to eat. It paired well with the Beam.

The bar had a bunch or regulars in the morning. We were all cutting up. I think we witnessed the slowest bike theft in the history of mankind. These broads took at least fifteen minutes to put these chained bikes into their car.

After several rounds, I walked to Clover Girl and ordered a burger and tots. The boys were happy when I put on some good dancing tunes.

The gooey egg made the overcooked beef patty pretty tasty. After putting a hurt on the burger, I returned to Lafitte's. Glassman made a brief appearance and told me hello. He unfortunately turned down my offer for a free drink.

I headed home with a slight hunger in my belly. I grabbed some Popeye's since it is close to my place. It was terrible and the chicken was small. Al's heirs should be ashamed of the shite they put out.

Stay fat, my friends.

French 75 food looks great.

Pathetic looking Popeye's chicken...those were dark meat pieces right?

I only go with spicy tenders these days. With an extra biscuit and mashed potatoes.

I can't imagine the Mayfair without smoke.

Also, beware of Biscuits and Buns. They're crying out for a visit from the health inspector.

Try imagining it without smoke and sorostitutes taking selfies. It was an odd feeling.

Things like this make me less sad about being banished to Mid City. Perhaps even grateful for it. Thank you.

Not food related but give the D Day Museum (actually now the National WWII Museum) another chance on a slow day. It is incredible. On par with the Smithsonian as far as I am concerned.

I agree. Some of the artifacts hit home. I just didn't feel like touching other people. I'm not into crowds.
