This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made
That the Lord has made
We will rejoice
We will rejoice
And be glad in it
And be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made.

Morning all. My spiritual cleanse is over and my weight was down. By the grace of God, my caloric intake resurrected to new heights this weekend.

Friday morning, I went to work to get some discovery out. I got done with that shite and went shopping on Canal St. for new fitted caps for the spring/summer. The locals were out and the weather was insane. After shopping, I went to my buddy's for a boil and the LSU game.

My buddy (Coon) arguably makes the best crawfish. His secret is lemon oil. The put down about 80 lbs. I ate a couple and waited on the little lady to call me after her keg hunt. I didn't want to get loaded with sodium before running the Classic.

The guest also had several cakes, which I took home to eat after the race and on Sunday. My favorite was the chantilly cake. It was very moist and sweet. I missed cake.

After the crawfish, I gathered the drunkards and headed to High Hat. Those gals needed something to eat. They had been drinking since 11, and they didn't think to eat. I went with the pompano and pimento cheese macaroni.

The pompano was very simple and delicious. I don't think it could have been cooked any better. I'd like to see this as an option on their menu all of the time. The salad which accompanied the fish was also very good. The croutons were fried cornbread. The croutons could have stood on their own. The macaroni is always killer.

After dinner, I went home to watch some television and rest for the race. I was in bed by 10.

I awoke at 5 on Saturday to eat a little and stretch. My body is a lot more delicate than it used to be. I hit the streets with my boys. The cool weather definitely assisted the run.

I didn't get my VIP tickets this year, since our friends had to work in Baton Rouge on race day. Luckily, I have friends in high places all over town. We went to my buddy's tent which was catered by Felipe's. I had a steak burrito, chicken quesadilla, chips and guacamole, and several churros.

The burrito was my favorite. The only thing that disappointed was the queso. The cold weather didn't help the viscosity of that mess.

The tent also had complimentary Sweetwater beer? I've never heard of it, and I was not a fan. It tasted like milk that had been in a bowl of Fruit Loops. I chose to stick with the free Ultra until I headed to the Quarter.

After the race, I got dropped of at Lafitte's to pound on some Beam. The little lady met me about 10 beers in and 3 doubles. I was feeling no pain. Being the astute person that she is, she decided I needed more food. She ran to Clover Girl and grabbed me a club and fries. I love Clover Girl.

After Lafitte's we walked to Molly's for Irish Coffee.

Around 4, we headed home to nap and shower. I got up around 6 to go meet my brother, his wife, and another couple at Superior Seafood. I'm not crazy about this place, but they could get us in. We got several dozen oysters. I went with some assortment of cooked ones, some fried and wrapped in bacon ones and shrimp remoulade. I got the fried shrimp poor boy for my entree. It's a rip off at $18, but I was drunk and not reasoning at this point.

The meal was okay. Nothing ever blows me away there. I laughed at one dish the table ordered. It looked like vomit. It was supposedly some crawfish cornbread. My bro said it was okay. I've eaten a lot of nasty looking shite in my life, but I would not touch that.

After dinner, we ran to Fat Harry's for a little while. I had some money riding the Badgers, and I love riling up all the UK fans at that bar. Better luck next year to the Wildcats.

When I got home, I ate some of the cake that was sent home with me from the day earlier and passed out.

On Sunday, I awoke to head to mass. I got there at the normal time, but the place was packed. Luckily my old friend saved me a spot.

I forgot what it was like to sit in mass hung over. The guilt was purely flowing, or it could have just been the Beam sweating out of my body.

After mass, we went to Hermes. I grabbed some old fashions, which were very good. The bartender kept laughing at the people outside. They were supposedly waiting on a parade that had passed about an hour earlier.

I got the puffed potatoes, escargot, crab meat, shrimp remoulade, and crab cakes. The remoulade was outstanding along with the escargot. I would put that remoulade up against any in the city. The crab cakes were mediocre, and I would not likely order them again.

I apologize for the picture quality. After 4 old fashions, I was feeling pretty good.

After brunch, we went to a friend's balcony to enjoy the weather and more cocktails.

I then went to Lafitte's to get some real estate for the gay Easter parade. The place was packed, and I didn't want get caught in the middle of that shite show. I grabbed my Beam and walked to my buddy's across the street. He had some refreshing rice krispy treats and some spinach dip. I went to town on them treats.

After making my rounds, I decided I wanted to head uptown for a burger. Unfortunately the two places I went to were closed for Easter. I almost cried. I still haven't had any red meat.

We settled on a quick bite at Robert's. I grabbed a stuffed artichoke and a fish plate. The fish plate was cheap at $6. It was decent, but I wouldn't expect much from a grocery store.

I'm looking forward to FQF this weekend. Hopefully, I 'll run into some of you slobs.

Stay fat my friends.

Must have been Sweetwater's Blue. A blueberry beer. I hate it too.

That's what it was. What's a man got to do to get some regular beer these days?

Sweetwater makes like 15 other beers. You just happened to have the really bad one

People who don't like beer generally like the Blue. Women especially.

I like it too. It's my parents regular spot. I'm sure to be walking around with a red to go cup from there this weekend.
