My wife and 2 kids (11 & 5) will be spending 2 nights there the weekend before Mardi Gras and any places to try or stay away from would be appreciated.

I'm fighting brown patch fungus right now, largely due to the extremely wet August. I've put some fungicide down and will spread pre-emergent closer to March.

My lawn also never went fully dormant, so I've had to mow every 3 weeks. Fingers crossed for a moist, yet not flooded, spring.

if you like dive/biker bars, Tradewinds is great, i think it is on the A1A's must hit list. there is a taco food truck that is great but i forgot where it sites. I dont think it moves. We went to Scarlet for drinks. out side of that im not sure.

Casa Maya is my favorite spot downtown.

The beachcomber is a good dive on the beach with parking nearby.

St. Augustine is a fascinating place. Unlike so much of FL (and especially Orlando) that has a "plastic" feel, St. Aug has maintained a measure of authenticity.

Haven't dined there in years but your wife and children should enjoy A1A.

Uptown Scratch Kitchen, a food truck in the parking lot of a coffee shop. Awesome inventive stuff, inexpensive.

Caps on the Water, in Vilano Beach. Rambling indoor/outdoor place in a live oak grove on the intracoastal, practically every table is waterfront.

Kookaburra for coffee, esp an excellent flat white.

Good beaches south of the pier on Anastasia island with a couple of good restaurants that are kid friendly

I lived in St Aug for 3 years. All of the above recommendations are good but there is only one correct answer.

TACO SHOP

Go to the one on the beach. And you gotta get a UFO. I still crave them all of the time.
