it's a really nice festival. it's the biggest beer consumption festival in La. probably due to the heat. it used to be put on by the vva but now it's ran by a committee. this will be the first year that they add rides for kids. the food is amazing and the atmosphere is very nice. the bands are great and the beer is ice cold.

enjoy.

I actually placed 1st in the professional division one year with a sausage and tasso sauce picante.

go from booth to booth and taste all of the authentic coonass cooking. you will see strange things in the pot but it's awesome.

They'd have better attendance if they'd move it to the fall when it's not 102 degrees.

I've asked that question. apparently the state decides on your dates whenever you become an "official" festival.

My cousin plays bass in the Mike Dean band. May have to make trip back for for that.

Bigger than Festival International or Contraband Days? Does Mardi Gras count?

Jazzfest consumes a lot more beer.

Stories like that in Ville Platte get told and retold. It's a cute, small little festival. It's nice for VP. But that's all it is.

If it's not brown, it won't get eaten or served at Smoked Meat Fest.
