Going to Destin later this year and was thinking about springing a surprise on the wife one night.

I have read old threads about normal restaurants to go to, but I was curious if anyone knew of any really nice/higher end places that I can look at.

Bijoux is good, little further down in Sandestin.

Ruth’s Chris, Mimmo’s has decent Italian.

There is a Flemings in Sandestin. A small drive but not too far.

Lagniappe is great, but I wouldn't call it super nice. Seagars is good, but they are VERY proud of their food. Mimmos is really good Italian, better than Tuscany Bistro IMHO. Ocean Club is great too. Galatoires' chef used to be at the Inn at Crystal Beach's restaurant, but he has since moved on, and the quality there has gone down. I think Tim Creehan still has Beach Walk Cafe in Henderson Beach, and I know he still has Cuvee out on 30A. Just my 2 cents.

Always went to Ocean Club growing up and it was nice a good, but haven't been in a while so not sure if its still nice or dated.

The restaurant at henderson Park Inn is really good.

Louisiana Lagniappe is good, but if from BR then its nothing new.

Far better than 'decent' IMO. Everything I've tried there is damn good

Emeril's Coastal in Sandestin was very good when I went ~5 years ago, I would assume that is still the case.

Bijoux and Tuscany for upscale French or Italian
They are right next to each other.

Mimmo’s is more casual but very good.

Louis, Louis is fun.

There isn't anything "super nice" in Destin, but the advice pointing you to the Henderson Beach Inn is solid. It's a great romantic dinner, on the beach, with very little "touristy" (read: airbrush and bud light) clientele.

Ocean Club is dated/old/filled with the elderly.

Fleming's is chain trash.

Lagniappe is quality food (on an underappreciated part of the harbor, imo) as is Mimmo's.

The Inn at Crystal Beach's restaurant has changed hands a few couple times since Creehan had Beachwalk there. The current iteration is awful and out of place compared to 790 on the Gulf (the prior outlet).

Yep, Beach Walk Cafe. Best recommendation here so far.

Used to be the food highlight of our vacation as a kid. It was the nicest place my parents would let us go, and we got feed the turtles a loaf of bread.

Not surprised about the clientele being old. That was a hot spot in the 90’s, so I figure all the folks eating there now are the ones that have been going there for 30+ years.

Yep. I actually like the one in Destin better than the one in BR.

The question is can you stop posting long enough to enjoy a nice dinner?

Henderson Beach Inn frowns upon beer drinkers. FYI.

(copied from the other FL thread)

I think you and SFP don't understand how this works.

Your wife is going to tell you where all her friends and influencers eat, you don't really have a choice.

My wife barely uses social media. What little time she does is watching animal reels on FB.

Go early, sit on the porch and watch the sun set.
