Just moved to Hattiesburg a few months ago so not sure about what all is here. Any recommendations on a nice place to take the Mrs. for V day would be greatly appreciated.

Actually a good idea. I think we went the day before last year and may do so again. Still need recs for the area for the occasion, even if it is a day before or after.

Purple Parrot or Crescent City Grill

Jutamas Thai is recommended but we didn't like it all that much.

Georgia Blue (chain, but we like the place)

Cotton Blues - I think it is still there.

You can take her on a day trip down to the coast. Have lunch and walk around the antique shops with her in BSL.

We ate at a hole in wall Vietnamese place south of Hattiesburg that was good, if she likes dining with funky smelling sauces.

Leatha's BBQ. Food's made with love.

Eta: Purple Parrot or Crescent City Grill--never heard anything bad about either of these, little more refined than Leatha's, too.

If you insist on going out to eat for v day and insist on staying in Hattiesburg purple parrot is the place.

If you want to drive an hour south I can give you several better recommendations for the gulf coast

The Purple Parrot and Crescent City Grill are both Robert St John Restaurants. He is by far the best Chef in Hattiesburg and a thousand times better than anyone in Meridian.

The Purple Parrot is Good High Quality food and a nice place to take your sweetie.

Crescent City is back to back on the same lot with the Purple Parrot. The food is good there but at a lower quality and price. We had a Crescent City in Meridian 10 years ago. The building St John got for the Meridian location was a dump and the staff was horrible. It failed. What a shame. However the drive to Hattiesburg is not so bad.
