Here's the secret. When your shots of espresso comes out of the machine into your cup you have 10 seconds to add dairy... milk, skim, soy milk, etc. The dairy stops the espresso from becoming bitter.

When my barrista gets distracted and allows my cup to stay under the machine for more than 10 seconds she throws it away and says "Sorry, Zach, I let that one sit to long. I'm making you another."

I don't add anything to espresso and I think it tastes perfect. I love it poured over ice as well.

I think it's pretty damn good. The Ethiopian blend is what I use in my house.

It tastes burnt. I do not go to Starbucks. I like my nespresso at home.

I think the cream and sugar faction just don't really like the taste of real coffee, so coffee that has been properly extracted doesn't appeal to them. It's full bodied, not scalded.

I like my coffee without sugar and just the slightest bit of non-dairy creamer. Starbucks is bitter.

This morning I went to Dunkin' Donuts, instead. This is MUCH better. Full bodied and SMOOTH.

The bitterness is just in the first few sips, after you get into it that's what makes it enjoyable. A double espresso over ice is about the most perfect drink in the world.

Starbucks is a good high quality coffee

It's the preparation that ruins it. And more than 50% of the time, no matter what city, I am annoyed by the staff AND by the conveyor belt method of preparing my fricking coffee. But, really, their regular coffee just doesn't taste very good, no matter the roast you choose.

I will too for just coffee, but left to their own devises with their drinks, they will do their best to give you type II diabetes with all the frickin sugar they put in there.

Truth is, I find both about like the BK and McDs of coffee houses, and cater to people who like the idea of drinking coffee, but don't want it to taste like coffee I suppose, because they're always asking what flavor simply syrup you want in your drink. I usually respond with "coffee flavor".

Ahem. I've drunk nothing but quality coffee quality coffee houses for years now. Nothing added other than an occasional au lait. And, I repeat, Starbucks is not good.

Ahem, I've drunk nothing but quality espressos in coffee houses for 20 years now. Starbucks is by far the best. Joe Muggs is the worst. PJ's is not even close.

However, I have had a bad espresso at Starbucks about once every 30 orders. They always redo it.

I don't know good wine from bad wine. So it would be stupid for me to buy expensive wine. But I can not only tell good espresso from bad, I can tell Starbucks espresso on I-20 from Starbucks espresso on I-220.

I guess I'm just not picky. Every time I get an espresso from there it's good to me. Stronger and smaller servings than a PJs, but it just seems a bit more European. Over there though they tell me GTFO if I asked for it over ice.

I'm not a Starbucks regular, but I can enjoy a skinny peppermint mocha or two around the holidays.

The biggest day for non-regular females at Starbucks is Black Friday. They come in early to make shopping plans and they get all the minty-mocha type drinks.
