We always do the same damn thing. Basically copy everything we have done at Thanksgiving and it's boring the hell out of me. What are some alternative main and side dishes instead of the usual Turkey and stuffing?

Ham is pretty traditional as well, but just do whatever you want.

I like a good gumbo but we also do that on Thanksgiving.

My family always does surf and turf for Christmas. It's really weird but we like it.

I like the surf and turf idea. Just found a beef tenderloin with lobster risotto meal which looks damn good.

We have an open house for family and friends on Christmas Eve with lots of cocktail party foods, breakfast on Christmas morning as everyone arrives before opening gifts and very casual gumbo with leftover party food on Christmas night. Nothing formal or sit down.

I like the surf and turf idea, as well. You could do bone in pork loin, also.

We do gumbo with my family.

We have also had smoked brisket a time or two.

Tamales are huge in San Antonio, and it looks like that is spreading across Texas. I may grab some this year.
