Maybe we should just start a thread on Albertsons, but anyway...

I've been pondering if the one at Highland/Airline will make it. It seems like a nice store, and I've never noticed a bad smell, but mostly just use the bank on the front wall.

But something has to give... Since it's opened, WalMart has opened which steals their price-conscious shoppers, Alexander's on Old Perkins steal a lot of their "upper tier" shoppers, and now Rouses on Airline about a mile north. And everyone seems enamored with Rouses.

I hope they make it, primarily because the vacuum created by those large stores usually isn't a good thing. (and where would they put my bank?)

They usually do get my beer/liquor dollars.

It's like that at every Albertsons. I don't know why you continue to go there. So many better stores in your area.

From my experience here in Southdowns, that's not exactly correct. God bless Bet-R, but they just don't have the heft (and attached liquor store) of Alb's. Other choices are on the other side/end of a wall/line of traffic down College, Lee or Perkins. Unlike my last two towns where there was at last a 2-3 store choice when I wanted something big nearby, unfortunately Albertson's is it for a quick trip.

And I hate what they've turned into.

I have the same hiring problem in my store as Albertsons. It's the rule that we have to send new hires for a Drug Test if we hire them.. 80% are flunking the drug test. Really, it's a problem. The last 16 stockboys I tried to hire, 11 flunked the test. 3 out of 5 cashiers flunked it too. I guess in modern times, corporate stores are going to have to accept pot smoking in off times. We can't hire anyone 75% of the time.

At my old store, corporate removed new hire drug screening. We had tons of stores in California and Colorado and it was affecting the hiring process

There are a few stores in my rotation depending on what I need, but a lot of the nice local stores lack selection. I can't do my big weekly trip at one of the nicer stores because I end up with several items I have to stop at Albertson's for anyway.
