I know this place has been mentioned here a time or two and always has been a favorite of mine. They've now reopened next to Best Buy on Johnson Street. They've now combined both restaurants, offering their tacos and burgers at the same spot and looks like they've added a few things to the menu as well.

Hoping this place does well in this new, much better than the hood, location as it's a different variation of Mexican that no one else here offers. There's now Acme Taco, LaPagua, Coyote Blues, Tampicos, Aztecas, Hacienda, Pasados, and El Paso all within pretty much a mile of each other. Lafayette may be the mexican restaurant capital of the world.

I went to Acme Taco in the Oil Center several times. Really loved the menu there. I guess the move makes sense as the Oil Center pretty much turns into a ghost town after 5 on the weekdays and at about noon on Friday

It was meant a bit tongue in cheek, Buffalo Wild Wings does a pretty good job of rounding them up.

The orginal location(University @ i10) was in that shady motel on the corner and occasionally got complaints about the hobos.

Then they closed Acme Burger completely and moved Taco into that location in the Oil Center. We'd occasionally go for dinner and be one of two or three tables there. Once we showed up at 8 and they wouldn't seat us, they had closed down early and sent everyone home.

Went Saturday and it was great.Going back this weekend for the deconstructed tamale, cream corn and their version of charro beans. Salsa has a different twist and is excellent. Best of luck to them!

Forgive my ignorance, but what does 'deconstruction' of the food do? Texture difference? Taste?

decon just seems to make a new fancier dish with more presentation than just laying out the original I guess. I don't care what they call it,just so it is good eats.

I've always been curious if the location issue is poor management or money issues, or both. I know for sure when they closed the University location, moved Taco to the Oil Center and closed Burger it was due to the two partners disagreeing on which direction to go and splitting up. The Oil Center always did well for lunch but fell off at night, apparently bad enough that they closed early several times.

About 6 months ago they even opened up a food truck, seems like their type of food would do well with that crowd, but they've only been out 3-4 times and haven't posted about going out since July. That seemed like a totally wasted effort.

This new location is an improvement over their two previous spots and hopefully it does well. It's alot bigger and probably in one of the higher traffic intersections of town, we've been twice since they've reopened and both times have been moderately busy.

Went there a couple of times when they were located there. Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

Sounds like the locally owned version of a Kentucko Hut.

Like Fin says, they couldn't pick the proper location to save their lives. But the food was pretty good if you like more authentic Mexican. Not Tex-Mex per say.
