You obviously have good taste! I love the place and I'm willing to deal with the food limitations to stay there. The Oxbow is fine and lunches are easy to find. The rest of St. F is well worth the visit, especially in December, when everything will be quite lovely.

Too bad. I was going to recommend this place my cousin manages in the Texas Hill Country. The Falls Resort
What about looking around in Fredericksburg or Gruene? The Christmas lights are gorgeous in those little towns and food and other touristy stuff is exceptional.

I went to Natchez and stayed at the Riverside B&B. It was great! Right on the bluff overlooking the river, you can walk all the way down to the Casino on the walkway overlooking the river. You can tour some plantation homes too.

Well crap. 11 minutes too late.

Don's is very crowded at lunch, so either go early or a little late or be prepared to wait just a bit. I love going there because it reminds of when I was a child.

Don't know about the greatest restaurant in Lafayette, but you might investigate Nash's or Poboy's Riverside if they're open on Sunday nights. I've enjoyed both. The atmosphere at Nash's is very conducive to date dining and I would imagine it would be festively decorated that time of year. It's a neat Victorian house.

Sunday night might be tough.

If they're not open on Sundays, then you might just have to eat on top of Choc's van down by the river.

Oh and for Sunday brunch, you mentioned Blue Dog, which is excellent. You may also try Charlie G's out on Ambassador Caffrey by the mall. Good Sunday Brunch as well.

No boure', my knuckles are too sore afterwords. How bout we go Sunday evening down to Henry to Don's Boston Bayou landing, bait, tackle and bar to watch the evening sunset over a few Schlittz beers on outdoor foldup garden chairs in the gravel parking lot. If the Ms prefers, they have wine in the bag, or, in the box. Do you parlais francais? You see, I am as cultured as Gris! Maybe she'd like to go with us? If so, I wouldn't invite Zu Zu and Shaniquaa (pronounced ai-a). Gris don't like them...

I haven't had brunch at Blue Dog, so I can't comment on the brunch there. I don't like the place, though. I've been there many times and I just don't like it.

I believe Nash's may be open on Sunday during the day. You might consider that and then go to Choc's Van that night. Eat a lot for brunch, though. I'm not sure what Zu Zu and that chick might put in your food. Bring alcohol to kill off anything dangerous.
