I know no one is arguing this, but I hate how some people get so wrapped up in annually realeased beers. Rare doesn't always mean good

Dessutches Black Buette Porter is dynamite and easily obtained.

Fair, but some beers also require more time to make, and due to demand they become annual release type beers. And it's probably the case that there are more annual release type beers than any of us think, it's just that a handful get all the chatter. It's also a great way for a brewery to grow the mystique of their brand.

And I'll say, I probably couldn't drink an entire dark lord by myself, but damn if a large glass of a 1-2 yr vintage isn't fantastic.

Kalamazoo is the OG, Galesburg is where the bulk of distribution is made.
I know Larry said he couldn't make it into the Louisiana market before brewery expansion. Probably a location I didn't know about. It's been a few years since I've lived in that area.

My personal favorite beer never made it here during Bell's first winter in Louisiana. Special Double Cream Stout is my personal absolute favorite beer of all time. I was very disappointed that it never hit shelves here.

1) Anyone else going to Dark Lord Day this year? Went last year, and despite the abysmal weather, it was really fun and going again this year.

Went last year. Not going this year, though a co-worker said I could buy a bottle off her.

2) KBS day this saturday. Anyone else planning to go grab some?

Was released in Grand Rapids earlier this month, but I'm planning on heading to Sheffield's on Friday night for their release and likely to Binny's (Lincoln Park) on Saturday morning for theirs.

Their BB Reserve is a barrel-aged porter and it is outstanding. Better than The Abyss, IMO.

I didn't love it, I liked it. If I recall correctly, it's a bit too hop forward for my tastes.

That being said, the ones are the shelf are only getting better.

these are 2016s so I feel pretty safe in letting these shelf age away for a while. It's in a pretty blue-collar neighborhood, not your Oregon beer drinking crowd.

Pretty sure Double Cream Stout was in the first wave of Bells to hit BR. I got a six pack and had it on tap a couple of places (for the first time). It's a good one

I may need to check out Sheffield's.

I'll be hitting the Lakeview Binny's Saturday.
