Found 2 tails in back of the freezer. Don't want to chunk them but also don't want butt water. Would you eat it?

I have a friend that has a piece of sheep milk cheese he brought back from Spain in 1997. It is covered in olive oil in the back of his refrigerator in a Blue Plate glass mayo jar with wax paper and a rubber band for a lid. Every Christmas Eve since 2000 we stop by for a drink, a snack and to say hello. He and I, as kind of a tradition for lack of a better reason, each eat a small piece of the cheese on a cracker. It smells like an elementary school cafeteria dumpster yet we do it because we have stomachs to take it- or we are dumbasses. That said...

I would not in a million years eat a 4 year old lobster tail in the depths of my freezer. I'll buy you a fresh one.

i'm curious as to what is the cut off time. if it is vac sealed or frozen in water, what is the difference between 2 months and 2 years? i can see if it thawed and refroze, but if not, i see no harm, as it's not exposed.

You would like the Spanish cheese.

I mean, who freezes lobster tails anyway? That is bizarre.

You would be surprised. Order the "Australian" lobster and steak in Morton's, Shulas etc...for a paycheck and get a tough frozen lobster tail.

I'm just not a big lobster guy to begin with.

Make a dip. Don't cook it straight up.

I'll take you up on the new tail offer

We decided after thawing that we couldn't eat the lobster tails because of the April 2011 best by date. No funky smell but just thinking of dealing with butt water in Tiger Stadium and tailgating tomorrow we decided the neighborhood cats can deal with it. Plus the FB didn't bless the journey!

It's not gonna hurt you if you thaw it properly, but I bet it will be rubbery and insipid.
