I love Cochon. I used to eat there before Link was all over TV. It is still a great place.

Boudin is great
Hoghead Cheese is fantastic
boucherie is really great
Fried okra is great
Louisiana cochon with turnips, cabbage, pickled peaches is incredible
Rabbit Dumplings is insane.
smothered greens is great

Everything i've had there has been incredible, and Cochon butcher is excellent as well. I love the pork belly sandwich.

I think this is all just hipster hate. You loved it when noone knew about it, but now that its popular and you have to wait to be seated you hate it.

Cochon is a really good restaurant.

However, Donald Link must have one of the greatest PR companies in the country on a huge retainer.

ETA, Place was getting huge national hype before it even opened. There was literally, no point one could say they liked this place before it became "hip."

I've only been to two, Cochon and Per Se, so I don't have really any sort of reference, but it seems like Cochon is ranked rather high. It's good and deserves recognition, but Top 10 seems like a stretch.

I absolutely get not liking a restaurant for whatever reason since every individual has different tastes, but objective credit has to be given to Cochon. Hell they butcher fresh, whole hogs in house daily which not many restaurants do. Furthermore they are butchering their own hogs, Mangalitsas (for the great fat compared to other breeds), which hardly anyone else in the country uses. Like the food or not, any admirer of the culinary craft has to give credit to anyone who refuses to cut corners.

Shake Shack above places like Per Se and Daniel? List is a fricking joke.

I've been to Daniel, Stella!, August, Shake Shack, Cochon (the Lafayette one .. that count?), Commander's, La Taqueria.

Ever seen the movie Jeff Who Lives At Home with Jason Segel and Andy from The Office? It was shot in Nola and Cochon was one of the shooting locations. They actually refer to the restaurant by it's actual name in the movie.

"Let me tell you something about Cochon. Cochon is full of assholes."

"You're not even..."

"...and snobs in fricking turquoise tailored shirts and pink ties .. like that a-hole! You want to ask me to take you there? Fine. I'll take you to fricking Cochon."

I can't believe that none of Guy Fieri's restaurants are on that list.

Where did I say I hate Cochon? Or have hipster hate for it? That is ludicrous.

I like Cochon a lot. I've eaten there probably 5-6 times in the past 2 years. I eat at Butcher all the time.

Its just not a top 10 restaurant in this country. Period. Its not even the best restaurant in NOLA.

But alas I'm no foodie just dig good food and thankfully I can find that just about everywhere and most times without the pretension.

Depending on when I'm asked, I would more likely than not include Cochon on my top 10 restaurants in town. It would probably never be my top 3 or even 5, however, and I could make and see a reasoned argument that there are 10 restaurants in town that are better than it. I don't think you could leave it out of the top 20, but top 10, possibly.

Of course, I could make and see a reasoned argument that there are 10 restaurants in Chattanooga, Tennessee that are better than Shake Shack.

There are 10 restaurants in town I LIKE better than Cochon, but I don't know if they ARE better than Cochon. If that makes sense.

Hell, I like eating at Butcher better.

The only non-NOLA one i've been to is Rasika, which was great. I'm hitting up Austin and Houston in July so looking to cross off Underbelly and maybe something else, as well.

I enjoyed Barley Swine and Uchiko more than Congress in Austin

I did the whole Franklin BBQ experience on Friday. I had a fantastic time. (aside to original ?)

I have hit up 5. Not shabby but not nearly enough. Need to cross the rest of the NOLA ones off the list.
