I wonder how much it cost these people to do this? Nonetheless it's very impressive.

Probably owns the equipment to do it and you can re-use the limestone. newsflash, limestone doesn't desolve, it was actually made thousands of years ago! geez...

Is it a historical site or something? No matter what, it doesn't looke worth the money.

I think most you dumbasses don't realize the type of equipment most of these farmers have or have access too...........I'd bet good money most did the hard work themselves..........

Yet of course only on Tigerdroppings could the internet user criticize a man for saving his home.

I would guess not real. I'd expect to see seepage and the need for a pump, like in that youtube of the guy in Arkansas who built a levee and moat for his house.

ETA: Apparently it's real, according to the linked article.

I've seen videos of a guy with his own levee of sandbags. He had a tractor constantly running a pump.

Did he not get the same memo as everyone else? How do you make a levee and then not make it tall enough?

It doesn't look like that wasn't tall enough, but it broke. Not sturdy enough.

This. It looks like it broke on one of the sides. Feel really bad for this person to go through all that trouble for it to break at one point.

I know a number of people who have put levees around their houses.

I know of a catfish farmer that had 10 track hoe's raising his levees so he didn't lose any of the catfish from the ponds... Numerous others put levees around their shops. It's been a crazy month where I live.

Has anybody from Baton Rouge ever noticed the house off Elliot Road (in extreme south east baton rouge parish) that has a permanent levee built around his house?

All he has to do is fill in the driveway and he's ready to go and has been ready for years lol.

In early summer 2001, last time we had a major local flood (which was due to a tropical storm, not Mississippi river situation), I'm pretty I sure I remember he dammed the whole thing up.
