WBRZ and WAFB are reporting a Monday crest in their newscasts and I also found it in the link below. Earlier today and even in the articles on the WAFB web site they are still saying the crest will be on the 22nd (LINK ).

Unless it has changed with the predicted diversion of water due to the Morganza opening.

It's not going to crest in Natchez/Vidalia till the 21st, pushed back from the 18th.

As per CoE press conference earlier today, they will maintain the Water Height @ BTR with the opening and closing of the gates @ Morganza. Crest at ORCS and MOrganza now expected on the 24th, and should start to recede approx 22 days later. Do not have a link, but heard it on WWL's feed on presser -

Technically, they hope the river will get no higher than it will be on Monday, so that does constitute the crest.

The purpose of Morganza is the let everything over the 1.5mcfs flow be diverted down the basin. So the rise coming down the river from here forward will be sent down the spillway and away from BR.

You know that hole in the top of your bathroom sink that keeps it from overflowing when you leave the water on? That is what Morganza is doing right now for Baton Rouge. The water in your sink will not "crest" beyond that level because it drains through the hole.

This. They plan to use Morganza to maintain the height in BR at 45'. Problem is, it will stay there for 2-3 weeks...

This is the information we had at the EOC-GOHSEP soon after the spillway opening as well ... crests at 45' early Monday morning the 16th. This is accurate.

In general, the Morganza relieves the river 1-3' of height depending on the River Mile location.

Good explanation. Now, if someone would use their ingenuity to do this with a toilet to prevent overflow when the big logs jam up the main hole, well, let me just say that it would save us all a lot of cussing occasionally.

When they say the 16th is it based off Morganza being 1/2 throttle or 1/4? Only 3 bays are open with only 30,000 cfs. I would imagine it would be a very gradual process to open 25 bays which is 250,000 cfs.

They will open the faucet as needed at Morganza to keep the River at present levels in BR.

As of yesterday, I was hearing from my contacts that they were hoping to keep it at 125K cfs. In 1973, the flow hit 160K cfs, and it caused some problems. It's all about how much they need to keep our flow at 1.5M cfs and river height at 45 feet.
