With the 88th pick in the MSB Mock Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select...
Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU...
Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU...
quote:
Johnson is explosive, very fast and has a great skill set, plus a lot of upside. He's been nicknamed "The Freak" because of his size and speed combination. That is saying something considering some of the other athletes the program has produced in recent years including Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne and Barkevious Mingo.

With the _______ pick in the draft, the Chargers select
Jared Abberderis WR, Wisconsin
Eddy Royal just got served a pink slip. This dude is a beast and will help underneath while Kennan Allen and Ladarius Green do work down the field

With the 90th pick in the 2014 MSB NFL Draft the Colts pick:
Philip Gaines CB - Rice
The colts have a need at CB and guy has all the tools.
Love his combo of size+speed.
Philip Gaines CB - Rice
quote:
4/5/14: Gaines was another star of the Combine who used the opportunity to really help his draft stock. He blistered the 40-yard dash and did well in the field drills, so he used the Combine to his advantage to command more attention from teams. The senior recorded 36 tackles with four interceptions and nine passes broken up in 2013. In 2012, he had 33 tackles with 18 passes defended. Gaines clearly has a nice combination of size and speed. It isn't surprising that his stock has climbed in the lead up to the 2014 NFL Draft.

With the 91st pick in the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select..
Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado
And as you can see by the picture he was a team captain, which is a big plus in my book.
Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado
quote:
STRENGTHS: Terrific athlete who appeared every bit as agile and explosive in 2013 after missing the entire 2012 season with a torn ACL. Very good straight-line speed making him an excellent option on vertical routes. Savvy route-runner who alters his gait off the line and throughout his route to gain separation from cornerbacks. Sinks his hips and explodes out of his breaks.
Generally plucks the ball cleanly out of the air with his hands, securing it quickly. Can track the ball over either shoulder and flashes the ability to dive and haul in the extraordinary catch.
Good vision to set up blocks. Good bloodlines. Father, Paul, Sr., played wide receiver in the NFL with Philadelphia, Oakland, Green Bay and the New York Jets.
And as you can see by the picture he was a team captain, which is a big plus in my book.

Yeah, but I'm sure on an NFL diet and workout regiment he can bulk up. He's a projected second round pick that the Saints got at the end of the third, pretty good value to me ha

Can someone fill in for the next pick?

With the 92nd pick in the NFL the CArolina Panthers select...
Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota St.
Panther's kind of hindered themselves by going 2 WR in a row in such a deep class, but they make up for by taking a small school tackle who luckily fell to them in the 3rd. No Cam can throw from his feet, instead of his arse.
Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota St.
quote:
STRENGTHS: Athletic with good shuffle to protect the edge, staying light on his feet to mirror. Good set up quickness, patience and reflexes with body coordination and bend. Strong at the point of attack with powerful initial jolt, generating power from his built upper body and long arms. Doesn?t slow at contact, showing latch-and-drive quickness and fight through the whistle. Good vision at the second level and the open field to come off initial block and eliminate the LB/DB ? looks natural on combo blocks. Has the frame to get stronger. Looks to punish and plays with a mean, nasty temperament. Easy to appreciate his on-field demeanor. Energetic finisher and plays through the whistle. Football bloodlines as his father played RB at Utah State and was drafted by Minnesota Vikings (1983), brother played LB at BYU and was drafted by NY Giants (2008). Four-year starter with time at both left and right tackle (56 career starts ? 44 left tackle, 12 right tackle) ? two-time consensus All-American (2012-13) and part of three straight FCS National Championships.
WEAKNESSES: High cut body type with leaner-than-ideal lower body. Needs to keep his belt and butt low to stay balanced and win with leverage. Needs to keep his pad level low and dig his cleats in the ground, can be knocked off balance in space. Bad habit of lunging and allowing his upper half to be overextended. Needs to stay under control on the move to better break down. Late to protect the edge at times and looks more comfortable when not asked to cover a large area. Needs to do a better job with hand placement to better redirect rushers and keep defenders from attacking his body. Level of competition is a question mark ? didn?t face top-flight talent week-to-week in college. All of his experience is at tackle, not inside at guard.

With the 93rd pick in the 2014 mock draft the NEw England Patriots select....
Will Sutton, DT Arizona State
The Pats take advantage of this mock's gross overrating of all LSU players by taking what some say is a 2nd round talent here in the 3rd at a position in need of depth
The Pats do run a 4-3 that will allow a guy like Sutton to rush the passer from the inside despite his short arms much like Geno Atkins does for the Bengals. That could be deadly with Chandler Jones salivating after the QBs on the other side of him.
Sutton will fight for snaps with Armond Armstrong and help lighten the load on Big Vince (and Tommy Kelly possibly) to ensure a catastrophe like last year doesn't happen again. With two new weapons on offense and a need filled on a talented defense, the Pats couldn't ask for the cards to fall much better than they have

With the 30 pick in the 3rd round the San Francisco 49ers select Dri Archer

We can at least finish out this round.
With the 31st pick of the MSB Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select...
Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford
Height: 6-4. Weight: 275.
Gardner was playing really well for Stanford in 2013 before a torn pectoral muscle robbed him of the majority of the second half of the year. His going out was a huge loss to the Cardinal's defense as he was providing a lot of disruption with some big plays. Gardner finished the year with 19 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He didn't participate at the Combine.

I'm not gonna lie, I've given up. It's not worth it anymore to me.

In the 3rd round, the Minnesota Vikings give Blake Bortles some help...
Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers, 6-6, 225
Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers, 6-6, 225
quote:
Smooth strider with more than enough speed to climb over the top of the coverage when doesn t get slowed down at the line of scrimmage. Strong (21 bench reps) and creates downfield matchup issues against defenders. Doesn t make many defenders miss but catches the ball in stride and top-end speed makes him a threat after the catch.
