Minnesota ain't trading for Sanchez.

Mettenberger would be a better option with that running game and decent WR group.

Because the offense won't be as efficient & they'll have to open it up more to compete.

Houston last year was a perfect example of a team with a backup caliber QB having to throw more than they wanted to. Their defense was solid too, especially vs that shitty division,

It led to Hopkins having a great year. Diggs isn't Hopkins but he is their lead WR. I didn't really have high hopes for him with Teddy but I think he's worth more of a flier now

Totally didn't think about this. They better have him on the next flight up there.

Shaun Hill 34 career starts:

738/1190 (62%)
8053 YDS
49 TD
30 INT
85 RTG

I think the idea is Teddy lacked on throwing the deep ball, thus hamstringing the value of guys like Diggs and Johnson. Hill has shown he can get it downfield. Doesn't necessarily mean the gameplan changes, just that there could be a few more shots.

60% of Bridgewater's passes traveled less than 10 yards last season -- 16% of which were thrown behind the line. It's well known they had the training wheels on him while he grew

That's a fair point, but I disagree to an extent.

I think 2016 MIN defense will be much better than 2015 HOU defense. I also don't think Houston had even close to the ground game Minnesota has, therefore Houston didn't have the option to rely on a run-game, something MIN can do. Like I said, I see MIN defense holding most teams to lower scores.

I just don't think the game will ever be that out of reach for the Vikings to where they have abandon the run game for extended periods of time and play catch-up ball because the defense should keep them competitive vs. most teams.

This isn't at all to say there won't be instances in the season where the Vikings need to get some quick points or it is a pass-first situation, but a) in all fairness that probably would have happened with Bridgewater in anyway, it's the NFL, and b) I don't think it'll happen near as much or as drastic as you.

Hey i never said drastic. Shaun hill is a marginal player. I'm more booking on a change of game flow. I love AP but at his age & mileage I'm not sure he is equipped to out run a bad passing game. And their D isn't good enough to just lean on. They are going to have to throw the ball in order to be competitive

That's all Teddy was going to do. Dink & dunk all over the place

Exactly. He wasn't going to make Diggs a great fantasy player IMO.

Well crap, I hope uncle Mike and the Vikes can overcome this injury. I'm hearing it could be season ending.

Paging Matt Flynn...

I think this is where our disconnect is coming from. From context clues I've gathered that I'm higher on MIN defense. I think you could argue they're a top 4 D in the NFC, and possibly top-8 in the entire league. I also like McKinnon a lot as a real life player. I think he'd be able to spell AP just fine to keep AP fresh, or if he were to start to breakdown due to age and mileage.

I would also argue that more volume, doesn't necessarily mean better or more efficient. Even if they do pass more, how many of those targets are going to be quality, compared to if Bridgewater was passing? Just a thought.

Not saying you're wrong. I think we just have different views of Minnesota as a team, and it's affecting our view on the offense and subsequently Diggs.

Their D can be top 10 I think, but after you get past the top 3-4 D's, you won't find many that are reliable week to week as far as just shutting people down.

They were the 5th best defense in terms of ppg. I don't think it's unreasonable to see them in the 17-18 ppg region again, as I think they've gotten older and also better since they're a young unit. Well within range to stick to a run-heavy approach.

They immediately called an ambulance for a non-contact injury. Really curious to hear what happened.

I do not recall an ambulance ever immediately being called for a torn ACL. Seems to be somethign possibly more serious.

From Rotoworld

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Teddy Bridgewater's knee injury was "gruesome," and that his teammates were "disturbed and horrified," with some even throwing up.
It sounds like we're dealing with a Kevin Ware/Paul George-type situation. An ambulance and paramedics were summoned when Bridgewater went down, with the paramedics being something longtime observers had never seen before. Bridgewater isn't going to play this season. The question is fast becoming if he'll be ready for 2017.

It sounds like they freaked out and the ambulance was called because he dislocated his knee. It was probably very horrific to witness. The results of that dislocation was a torn ACL and other structual damage. Thankfully for him, it sounds like he'll make a full recovery eventually. Of course it won't be this year.
quote:

from Vikings head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman: “Teddy Bridgewater suffered a non-contact injury today at practice. The injury was quickly identified as a dislocated knee. The injury was stabilized, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. After undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage. Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage. Surgical repair will be scheduled within the next few days. Although the recovery time will be significant, we expect Teddy to make a full recovery. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today. Teddy has already displayed the attitude needed to overcome this injury and attack his rehab.”
