I don't understand what you mean by "now". They would have had to keep 8 regardless. How does this change them throwing a strong keeper back?

This is how I believe it should go:
1) Select 8 keepers based on your rosters
2) Then randomize 2 round draft for players on open teams
3) Regular draft where everyone just won't be making their final 2 picks (unless we want to expand rosters by 2 players)

That is what Gyno proposed. VKC's google spreadsheet makes it easier on us. We can just remove everyone's last 2 picks from that without deleting entire rounds, and it will allow us to stay in order.

Add 2 rosters spots for 2017 and expand to 10 keepers for 2018?

We don't need add to roster spots. They are 30 man rosters already.
I guess my complaint is rooted in that I think I have a strong and deep set. Obviously fine with whatever the league decides is best/most fair.
I would prefer to get to keep the players from the contracted teams in addition to our eight original keepers.

How does that change? Not only do you have a strong keeper set, you now have an opportunity to add to that. You realize that you are one of 12 people that has a chance to add Goldy or Stanton in addition to keeping your strong 8 keepers, right? That part will be done random order. If you or Louie get the top 2 spots, which could happen, the rich get richer. I guess I just don't understand...you get to keep 8. It's actually hurting the people with the top picks of the draft because instead of all but 16 players from Earl and Broeho's teams being available to start the draft, 24 players from those teams will be gone when the first person picks.

Maybe I am very confused, but let's say I get the first random pick and get Goldy.
If I keep Goldy do I have to drop an existing keeper like Jansen or do I get add Goldy to my eight keepers? Sorry for being an idiot.

you get 8 keepers from your current roster. then a 2 rd supplemental draft. your roster will then sit at 10 players going into the normal draft, which will be 2 rounds shorter

Haha it's all good.
You would keep your keepers and goldy.
Set 8 keepers
Then, random order 2 round draft of Earl and Bros teams. By this time, everyone has 10 players.
Then, regular redraft. We will just cut the last 2 picks for everyone since we are adding 2 from the teams we are deleting. Make sense?

I wanted to talk it out first, but we already have the support of:
PCT
Gyno
Rick
Louie
G$
Clams
Dallas
that's over half the league...looks like we are good. It's either that, or we vote to put them back in the regular draft and I don't think anyone other than the top 4 picking people, would do that. I have the #3 pick and wouldn't think it would be fair.
Now something we can vote on is FAAB. VKC, what are you proposing? A budget to claim guys instead of rolling waivers?

For more selfish reasons and for more parity, id prefer reverse of last yrs finish. But I'm not against random order.

Correct.
We all will set our keepers.
After everyone has 8 keepers, we will generate a draft order to pick from broehoe and goodfella's players. It will last 2 rounds and will be a snake.
Then, the rest of the players will go into the draft pool with everyone else, and the regular redraft where you have the 6th pick with begin.
I just think it would be unfair for those of us picking at the top to have a Goldy or Stanton fall in our lap, because the people last year would not have traded those picks if they had known that. Does that make sense?

Trust me I hear you, but I want to do the right thing. I even thought about a weighted lottery to try to make it fair...honestly though, I wouldn't mind picking 12th. You are going to get two stud players at 12 and 13 between those two teams.
