Is it time to permanently bench Jay Cutler?

Cutler was on fire at the start of the season, then the Giants game and he's been off track since.

He's got a tough match up this week, too.

Is it time to replace Cutler even if the alternative is not all that great?

My back up is Palmer. The wavier wire is at the bottom of the barrel (even Kitna is gone). I'd think I'm probably not the only one in this position.

Yes, but 188 yards is pretty bad and he lost a fumble, which is -1 in our league. I'm not saying he's the worst. but he started out looking so good and with Martz on board, I thought I had gotten a steal in the draft. Now I'm just not so sure.

EDIT: I see that Palmer is questionable. I may have to put this decision off.

Im benching Cutler to put in Fitzpatrick...Cutler is too inconsistent especially againt a top 10 defense. I cant find a reason I would wanna start him.

Normally, I'd say that was a bold move, but I guess Ryan has a favorable match up this week. You're right about Cutler. He's inconsistent.

I'm still teetering between him and Palmer.

I'd wait a bit longer to see how Palmer's shoulder is closer to game day. Palmer/TO/Ocho could have a HUGE coming out party against the Colts. Ocho has been a bust for me this year, but it only takes a game against a pass D like this to get him back on track.

If Palmer's shoulder is good to go, I'd consider starting him. What FA's does your league have available?

None. It's a 12-team league and there are more than a few teams with three QBs. I don't see any of the free agents as viable:

Hasselbeck-may return this week.
Pennington-who knows.
Derek Anderson-has sucked all season.
Jason Campbell-on a bye.

Damn. Out of those FA's, Pennington seems your best best.

I like the combo of Marshall/Pennington, but 3 shoulder surgeries, and lack of playing time concern me.

With what you have on your roster, I like the Palmer start over any other option. That's just me though.

Saw this on CBS:

quote:

Carson Palmer, QB CIN
News: Bengals QB Carson Palmer sat out practice Thursday for a second straight day as he continues to deal with a right shoulder injury. Palmer should be able to take the field on Friday, however, as Cincinnati prepares for its Week 10 game at Indianapolis. He expects to play against the Colts. "I'm definitely going to go, but (I'm) just getting a couple days of rest on it," Palmer said.
Analysis: Palmer has an 11-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his last five games, and while he can have his rough patches at times, the veteran has forged a great relationship with WR Terrell Owens, who now leads all Fantasy receivers. This matchup against the Colts isn't a great one for QBs though, as Indy is easy to run against, so start Palmer as just a No. 2 option for Week 10. He should be fine to play on Sunday.

I think Palmer is going to get the nod. It's too late for waivers anyway. Our last pick up is Thursday.

Cutler just scares me. And against Minnesota, could easily turn the ball over 3 or 4 times.

You do realize that Palmer is a top 10 fantasy QB right now right? And Cutler sits outside the top 20. You have compared their production haven't you? Its a no-brainer. There's likely several better QBs on waivers than Jay Cutler

You're about 5-6 weeks late on that one. Cutler doesn't belong on any fantasy team. He's just way too unpredictable and capable of having awful games.

Not a bold move by any means. You start the best player. Fitzpatrick has 30 more points than Cutler in our league, and he played in 2 less games. His avg/game is likely top 5 amongst all quarterbacks.

Cutler is terrible. He should be a free agent in every league, and not in your starting lineup. I think you're still in preseason mode where you think Martz+Cutler= the next Manning. Watch a game or look at the stats. its not that hard

No. Here's the list:

Hasselbeck-may return this week.
Pennington-who knows.
Derek Anderson-has sucked all season.
Jason Campbell-on a bye.

I guess I'm just an optimist. I kept thinking that Cutler would return to the form he had in the first two games. In retrospect, that Dallas performance wasn't as impressive as I thought at the time.

Everyone should be on notice that I am benching Cutler this week. That means 400 yards and 4 TDs if my current streak continues.

Understandable, and i was wrong in that assumption. However, you may be overlooking how good Fitzpatrick is

I liked cutler too ...at the beginning of thes season, but his inconsistencies have f'ed me way too many times. His O line is throwing lookout blocks every other play and forte is not playing well...Id start donovan mcnabb over him probably

Well, he didn't get quite that much, but enough. I benched him, played Palmer, lost by two points. My fantasy season is over.
