2015 Bold Fantasy Baseball Predictions
Posted on 3/23/15 at 8:46 pm
Posted on 3/23/15 at 8:46 pm
It's that time of year again.
You know the drill, bold prediction for each position
C- Miguel Montero turns back the clock to 2012, 15-HR 90-RBI .800+ OPS in his first season on the northside.
1B- Jose Abreu fails to hit 30 HR. All of his underlying stats point to regression, although for him that means 28 HR & 100 RBI. Still a very good, but not great hitter.
2B- Micah Johnson leads the AL in SB on his way to ROY.
SS- Hanley Ramirez succumbs to the pressure of new position/contract/league and falls out of the top 10 SS.
3B- Lonnie Chisenhall finally puts it all together on the way to a .315/.360/.480 slash and the #3 overall fantasy 3B.
OF- Jose Bautista fails to reach 20 HRs.
OF- Ryan Braun reclaims his spot among baseball's elite on his way to another MVP.
OF- Carlos Gomez' elevated BABIP and free swinging ways finally catch up to him as he falls out of the top 15 OF
SP- Garrett Richards misses his 1st 2 starts then deals for 5 months: 180IP, 200Ks, 20+ QS
SP- Despite the switch to the NL & Petco, James Shields disappoints to the tune of 4+ ERA & 1.30 WHIP.
SP- The Loranger Lefty Wade Miley puts together a first half that puts him back in the all star game, this time for the AL. He'll end the season as a top 30 SP.
RP- Brad Boxberger runs away with Tampa's closer gig. 40 saves Sub 2.00 ERA/1.00 WHIP and 10 K/9. Jake Who?
Let er rip...

He was pretty scrawny outta HS but I think he's just a gym rat at this point. Plus someone who has been as outspoken as him ab PEDs, I just don't see it.
But this is the BOLD predictions thread.

Damn, I disagree with a shite ton of your "bad" predictions, but I guess they are bold for a reason.

Big G. Can you give up the deets on the Sweet Tea? Wife just bought home a gallon. That is the most delicious tea I've ever had.
Sorry to disrupt the thread. I'll have my bold ones later.

Prolly better off for you. My doc told me that tea can lead to kidney stones. I'd rather eat a baboon's a-hole then to get another kidney stone.

Brewed fresh every few hours and yes, has a shite ton of sugar. Like 6 cups per container

Good
Rob Refsnyder takes over in June at 2B for Yanks. Great avg, OBP and runs. Meh in SBs.
Alex Guerreo hits 20 home runs and has an .817 OPS
Rusney Castillo hits 16 homers and steals 33 bags
Carlos Gonzalez goes 20/20 with an .860 OPS
Bad
Andrew McCutchen's lower leg soreness zaps his speed and power. Outside top-20 in OF
Justin Verlander falls off another cliff. Gets shutdown for a "injury"

AJ Pollock wins triple crown.

These are all solid. These all have a shot to happen IMO
I disagree with the next bunch. These were the most bold IMO and way off.

Good:
C - The trio of 2014 A's catchers all have very good years in 2015 with more at-bats each and a DH role for Jaso. Vogt will also pick up catcher eligibility within two weeks. All three of them are top 10 catchers by season's end.
1B - Even losing some at-bats to lefties, Lucas Duda repeats 2014 even though he went outside the top 100 picks. He is the best bargain at a loaded position.
2B - Neil Walker again leads the 2B position in power production. He stays healthy and harvests RBI's on the reg hitting behind Marte and Cutch. 80/25/90/5/.270
Brian Dozier
3B - Nolan Arenado is a fringe first-rounder by 2016. Road struggles? That's cute. Call me when he gets traded. Arenado is very receptive to coaching and will continue to improve his already great game. Remember when he was a bad fielder as a prospect? No? Now, he is a GG defender. He flirts with 30/100/.300.
3B - Josh Donaldson wins the AL MVP with a filthy 90/35/110/.280 campaign. Billy Beane is left wondering why he traded for Lawrie who spends 4 months on the DL.
SS - Joe Maddon gets Starlin Castro running again. 15/15 and safely passes Jose Reyes as the #4 SS in fantasy.
Gyno's JJ Hardy prediction
OF - Kemp and Upton each hit 25+ in their new Petco home. They live up to their lofty ADP's.
OF - Rajai Davis leads the AL in stolen bases.
OF - Drew Stubbs finds 400 plate appearances and goes 20/20 with 80% of the production in Coors.
SP - Arrieta is legit. Not sure why they are any doubters after watching him last year.
SP - Matt Shoemaker laughs in the face of projected regression and posts a 3.25 ERA. He has great control and knows how to keep the ball down. I really do not understand the projections for him.
SP - The foot injury does not affect Chris Sale. He misses two starts, but still makes 30 great starts this year, wins the Cy Young, and his arm still looks like Gumby.
RP - Steve Cishek performs like an elite closer with an 11 K/9, 40 saves, and a 2.00 ERA.
RP - Adam Ottovino attends the funeral of old man Hawkins in May, grabs the ball from his cold, dead hand, and does not look back. 25 saves
Bad:
C - Jonathan Lucroy is a top five catcher, but nowhere near his ADP. The spring injury hampers him a little and he hits only 10 homers with a .280 average.
1B - Matt Adams fails to turn up the power again. He flirts with 20 bombs, but the 30 bombs we hoped for in 2014 were nothing more than a mirage of his massive figure.
2B - Jason Kipnis still looks lost at the plate. His 20+ steals are not worth the price at all. He falls outside of the top 10 2B.
2B - Rougned Odor is not bad at all, but the hype train goes too far for a young kid who ends up with 10/10 and a .250 average.
3B - Yasmany Tomas (assuming eligibility) flops as he hits for empty power. See Jonathan Schoop's 2014.
SS - Elvis Andrus is a huge fantasy disappointment as usual. I am not sure why he continues to be drafted so highly when he clearly is awful. He is a more expensive version of Alcides Escobar and Jean Segura.
SS - Jose Reyes only steals 20 bases and enters the SS territory of the three players listed above.
OF - Jay Bruce leads the league in strikeouts. He still manages 20-25 homers, but he looks absolutely lost at the plate and may struggle for consistent AB's in the future.
OF - Neither Rusney Castillo nor Mookie Betts can live up to their expectations as there are not enough at-bats to go around in Boston.
SP - Tyson Ross gets hurt. Throwing sliders over 40% of the time will do that to you.
SP - Alex Cobb's forearm issue is way more than what is reported right now. He fails to reach 100 IP.
SP - Adam Wainwright is done as an elite pitcher.
RP - Neftali Feliz is dog shite. He strikes out no one and has a worse ERA than Edwin Jackson.
Other and/or crazy:
1B - Freddie Freeman's R and RBI do not really decrease as expected because people forgot how shitty the Braves lineup was in 2014.
2B - Devon Travis wins the 2B job in Toronto, steals 25 bases, and hits .300.
OF - Chris Black Young hits 7 bombs in April, rondo faps, and then he hits 4 more for the rest of the season.
OF - Michael Saunders continues his miraculous healing pace and is ready for Opening Day. He replaces Jose Reyes as the Toronto table setter and goes 100/20/75/15/.285 as this year's poor man Michael Brantley.
RP - Only five teams replace their closers. The closers oddly stay healthy and effective.
