I'm not sure why everyone hates on Johnson so much. He's a hardass and the players can tune him out at times, but he is a legit coach. I'm not so sure that our team doesn't need someone to come in and show some damn passion at this point. He's a former PG too, so I think he has the skills to develop Holiday/Rivers into the scheme he runs.

ETA: Also, there's a pretty big difference between coaching entitled vets that think they don't have to put up with hardass antics and coaching young 20-25 year olds that just want to win. If Davis is on board with the move, that's enough for me.

It's not the first time he has mentioned the team while no one else is. Pels are on his mind. Can't be a bad thing.

Maybe Benson told him to be ready, and George is just letting Benson know he is.

Funny thing is, this Pels team is somewhat similar to Karl's team in Denver last season that won 57 games. I think Karl excels with these types of teams.

Holiday/Lawson - height notwithstanding, both are versatile, quick, combo type guards who can knock down the 3.

Ryan Anderson/Gallinari/Wilson Chandler - big, floor spacing three point threats

Evans/Iggy - swiss army knife players who can play 3 positions and fill up the stat sheet (Evans is this player when he's on). Obviously Iggy's D >> Evans, but still...

AD/Faried - It's insulting to compare the two, but both are high energy PF/C who clean up on the inside and provide formidable interior defense.

EG/Brewer - Brewer was one of their key pieces and we really don't have a player like him defensively. Gordon could fill this void. Obviously he is superior offensively and at one point was actually revered as a pretty good defensive player.

You figure the Nuggets attempted 45% of their shots last season in the restricted area (32% this season).

Led the league in fast break points (10th this season).

Led the league in offensive rebounding % (20th this season).

Similar to the Pels, the Nuggets are struggling big time this season without their floor spacers Gallinari and Chandler. But is seems Karl's coaching and offensive philosophy was pretty important to the Nuggets success. 57 wins is pretty damn good.

did you actually watch the Nuggets? Lawson and Holiday are nothing like.

neither are Gordon and Brewer.

but especially not Evans &Iggy and most of all Gallinari and Ryan Anderson.

Stop shoehorning Karl into this.*

*This doesn't not mean I don't think Karl is a bad coach or necessarily hiring him down the road.

because what you said is inaccurate. The only thing the Pels have in common with last years Nuggets is the ability to run. That doesn't mean the players "games" are similar.

I'm not sure whether youre just a Pels homer/Sportscenter viewer, your knowledge of the NBA always seems to be from a casual fan view, thus your posts are lacking real insight. That being said face to face you might be decent to watch a game with.

Holiday and Lawson don't have similar games? Holiday has never played in a system that has allowed him to run and attack like Lawson. He hasn't had a chance to showcase that ability in the NBA. Are both not versatile, quick, combo type guards who can knock down the 3? Break down their games for me if you would.

Gallanari and Chandler did not play a huge role in spacing the floor, which allowed the Nuggets to score the most points in the restricted area? Anderson doesn't do that as well?

Are Iggy and Evans not players who allow their team the flexibility to play them at 3 different positions? They can handle the ball, attack the rim, rebound, and shoot the 3 a tad. I gave props for Iggy's superior defense.

I prefaced the AD/Faried comparison saying it was an insult to compare Faried to AD. But both are relentless defenders and rebounders while playing a tweener PF/C. Both can get down the court and excel in transition. Obviously Davis has far superior handle and a mid range game. Thought that went without saying.

Brewer and Gordon? Meh. I said we don't really have a player like Brewer. Was reaching on that one.

Oh no! This is where I get defensive I think!111

You draw this conclusion because I don't think Derrick Williams is a bust? Or is it because you think NBA service time transcends one's age and I disagree?

Either way, I probably am a casual fan. Isn't every poster on this board? What are you classified as?
