.564 career winning percentage
1286 wins (32nd all-time)
Six Division titles
1986 World Series
1997 AL Manager of the Year
One of only two men to lead four different teams into the playoffs (other is Billy Martin)
Has finished below 2nd place only three times in 16 years as a manager

Im a huge Davey fan (Mets guy here)
but the answer is not even close
Do you realize how difficult it is to make the HOF as a manager???
Davey has a long way to go and he won't coach that much longer

Six Division titles
Does that include '94 when the Reds finished in first place?

Yeah, I think so. He doesn't have the career wins of some other candidates, but his record of success is excellent with a great winning percentage plus playoff success with numerous teams.
If he is on the fence now, a deep run or World Series win in the next couple of years might tip him over...

think abotu how many managers are actually in cooperstown just for their managing? Johnson has no business there.
John McGraw
Casey Stengel
Connie Mack
Sparky Anderson
Larussa
Torre
Johnson is nowhere near the class of those guys

There are about 20 managers in the HOF. Davey doesn't belong in the upper echelon, but I think he is comparable to some of them.
For instance one of the most recent inductees is Dick Williams who was 1571-1451 for a .520 winning percentage. Tommy Lasorda won 1599 and had a .526 winning percentage.
Davey Johnson has a far better winning percentage and if manages for two or three more years his number of wins would be comparable.
Or look at Whitey Herzog. 1281-1125 for a .532 winning percentage.
