What are the laws on political advertising by individuals???

Could and individual put out a political mailer and not reveal his name?
Throwing out the trash today I noticed a couple of mailers sent to me this week and both had some statement like "paid for X pac".
Why do they have to do that? and if I wanted to mail one using my own money would I have to put "Paid for IB Freeman" on the mailer?

Would immediately know who did it.

Most states and the federal government require the name to be printed on mailers and advertisement.

I love mailers. The bigger the order, the better.
Casinos, political campaigns, idc. Love them all

a pac is a legal definition like 501c and all that. if you pay cash for an ad i would assume you want your name on it.

This is exactly why PACs are formed. I don't believe they are held to the same campaign finance limits as contributions to a candidate's official warchest and they provide a degree of anonymity to the frickers running the ads.

Suppose a person wants to mail a flyer with his own money against a candidate or an issue and does not want the incumbent bringing down the power of the state on him??? He wishes to remain anynomous.

They can hide behind pseudonyms and pacs but they will never be anonymous. You can always follow the bread crumbs back to a name

OP is asking if Joe A Citizen wants to send out mailers for a candidate or against a candidate could he do it without disclosing he did it. He isn't talking about PACs.
