Shhh...We have an unearned reputation to keep! Don't tell them about the-yet again-Top 10 ranked school system, the $25 million expansion of Walker High, or the complete rebuilding of Denham High after the Floods, or the entirely new from the ground up Live Oak High School all within a 10 mile radius from each other.

Don't tell them about the crime and murder rates. Don't tell them about the cost of living. Don't tell them about our Parish's Council on Aging. Don't tell them about the no-kill animal shelters. Or any of the other budget surpluses our parish and local agencies operate within.

Don't tell them how our school system increased standardized test scores last year after the Floods while ripping kids up out of their homes-and their schools-transplanting them somewhere else on new schedules in new places.

We're all inbred backwater hicks. Let us keep on keeping on in that regard.

To be honest I never thought I would live in LP but after being there often after the flood helping I really came to enjoy it. I know the LP has a good many backwards arse people but I'll take that over whats going on in BR any day.

I tried to stay in BR but I could just see it going down more and more along with an administration that doesn't care one bit about my concerns. I know there are good places still in BR and I'm not piling on everyone living there but for me I just had enough...

Property taxes for a transit system? WTF? Hey I have a novel Idea! How about make the people who use the system pay for it?
