MARTA in Atlanta was always so convenient for getting from the suburbs to events and the airport. I don't know what a light rail system would cost vs. a loop, but if you could take a lot of people going downtown and to LSU off the roads at rush hour, that helps traffic a lot.
How the cost of building something like that compares with a loop, I'm not sure, but it seems like the biggest stumbling block for the loop isn't money, it's getting people with different agendas to cooperate. It might be easier to get all the parishes to cooperate on light rail than a loop because you'd kind of be following the current flow of traffic building along side or parallel to I 10/12 and Airline/Florida rather than fighting over who gets the most benefit of roadways in new areas.

No one who cares about bus service would ever trust CATS to deliver it
And that's exactly why Broome should be advising CATS not to ask for more, but to step up and demonstrate that they are delivering as promised. Instead it's always some Pollyanna request for more.

Doesn't the Independence Park library have a dozen XBoxes as well?

As opposed to what we have now: a Baton Rouge where 4 people take the bus.

I wonder if that's why they tinted the bus windows? So taxpayers don't see them driving around all day with 3 people on the bus

I would love to be able to take the bus to work everyday. Probably save a lot on gas. Too bad the current administration is too stupid do pull that off.

You're being generous.
The CATS busses I see around town that aren't empty usually have no more than 1 or 2 riding.
It's like another poster said...CATS is basically EBRPCOA. A big slush fund for the hooked-up in this town.

It's insane we have one of the largest tax outlays in the country and all of our services are complete shite and they keep wanted more money

It wouldn't be feasible for us anyway. I bring my kids to school in the morning (school doesn't have buses) and then drive to work. I'm not leaving at 6am to ride with my kids to school on the bus and then take it to work to make it for 8.

Will they offer transfers to St George?

I actually took CATS once. I was having my high end luxury sports car worked on at the dealership. My chauffeur was tied up taking my wife to the country club, and I did not want to wait for the service to be done. I proceeded to ride the bus to Perkins Rowe movie theater.
It was actually quick and efficient. The characters on the bus were entertainment on the way.

So that was you. Me and the guys still joke about how dumb you looked. We still call you Forrest and joke about how you got off at the wrong stop three times.

I'm envisioning a Baton Rouge where more people are on the prisoner transfer bus going to Angola.

Actually there was a full load that day; the driver, a driver trainee, me a, cool bobby Vee here, and my buddy Sal, his cat and Annie the freeloader.

Envision a Baton Rouge where there were no gun shots every single night of the week....
