Golfers can be good athletes, but
you don't have to be a good athlete to be a great golfer.

in today's game I disagree. but if you look at all the greatest golfers of all time, they were all very good athletes.

And none of them are Jared Lorenzen, right?

Finau is like 6'4 with long arms. And he's cousins with Jabari Parker and Haloti Ngata. Not surprised he can dunk.

In the top 25 OWGR, there are a couple guys who I would classify as great all around athletes. DJ is a great athlete. Brooks Koepka is probably a decent athlete. They also have a slew of guys who work out a lot, if you call that "athlete," see Jason Day, Rory, etc.
But the majority of those guys wouldn't be classified as "athletes."
For instance:
Kuchar
Spieth
Scott
Casey
Reed
Oosthuizen
Schwartzel
Mickelson
Maybe I'm wrong, but that is a list of guys that I wouldn't pick first for dodge ball.

quote:I bet you'd be surprised. What makes you assume Spieth and Phil possess no natural athletic ability? They used to say Phil could break 90 playing right handed. I'd even guess John Daly was a well above average athlete growing up.

back in the 80s, there was mac o'grady, who played as a pro right handed but was also a scratch golfer left handed ... had trained for and competed in marathons before his golf career and stayed in very decent shape during ... very talented golfer but very, very ill tempered and mercurial, so he didn't have all that much success aside from a couple of tour wins ... still plays persimmon woods & blades and does very well with them in some sr pro events ...

There are dudes working at McDonalds that can dunk too. What's your point?

Finau is like 6'5" and barely gets the ball over the rim.
Pathetic.

Spieths brother is a D-1 basketball player, so it's not out of the question hes athletic. He played football and baseball.
