SEC is a giant cluster with seven teams within one game of lead. Here's a look at remaining schedules:

SEC East
Kentucky (14-7) - UGA, Tenn, at Florida (combined 24-38)
Florida (13-8) - Ole Miss, at Bama, Kentucky (combined 27-36)

SEC West
Auburn (14-7) - Bama, at LSU, Ole Miss (combined 26-37)
MS State (14-7) - at A&M, at UGA, LSU (combined 31-32)
LSU (13-8) - SC, Auburn, at MS State (combined 38-25)
Arkansas (13-8) - at Tenn, Vandy, at A&M (combined 29-32)
Texas A&M (13-8) - MS State, at Ole Miss, Arkansas (combined 38-25)

Kentucky has easiest path. LSU and A&M have toughest.
Four teams get first round bye in Hoover, so three pretty good teams will have to play single-elimination on Tuesday. Bama is pretty much a lock to stay home. Georgia and Tennessee will fight for the last spot.

Top 2 on each side get a bye? Or is it top on each side plus 2?

I hate bama with a passion.

but I love baseball more than any sport and I actually felt sorry for their players this weekend. they have some talent but just not enough. their coach saved their best pitcher to pitch in game 3. now that's sad. it's a form of surrender to have to resort to that strategy to prevent a sweep. it almost worked too. the state of Alabama produces some talent; where do they all go? I mean, usually auburn sucks big time and bama is mediocre.

It also means LSU pretty much controls their destiny in the West if they take care of South Carolina. The winner of the West is going to get a national seed. Damn Kentucky is probably going to win the SEC with that trash bag remaining schedule. South Carolina is decent but really not all that great. LSU needs to make some noise this weekend and stay hot in the SEC.

Agree totally.

With Auburn and Miss. State left we control our destiny more than the others.

I like the way the schedule worked out.

Gotta hope Bama takes 1-2 from Aub with rivalry alone. It won't happen based on talent.

Tennessee's third game of the series with Vandy today was canceled. That will leave both of those teams playing only 29 conference games this season.

Tenn could edge out Georgia for the last tournament spot by having one less loss than the Dawgs but with the same number of wins.

I'm not convinced the west winner gets a national seed. UK and UF both have top 6 RPIs. Of course that may move and we could get in the top ten especially with 2 series wins and 1 being in Starkville. But the SEC won't get two and if either UF or UK play well, it'll be all theirs.

The winner of the West is rarely not a national seed. But you usually self-deprecate this time of the season and come back strong for the postseason.

Not sure they answered the question about the byes.

It is actually the top 2 teams in each division.

2 SEC West and 2 SEC East

So for instance if the final records were

Auburn 20-10
UK 19-11
MSU 19-11
Arkansas 18-12
UF 17-13

#1 Auburn #1 West
#2 UK #1 East
#3 MSU #2 West
#4 UF #2 East
#5 Arkansas

How many of these teams do you think have peaked? It seems like we have slogged along all season. Gotta get hot sometime.

Yeah we definitely have our chance right now with these next 3 series. Don't forget about the sec tournament too. We can play well there and help ourselves out too.

Straight from SEC website: The two division champions shall be automatically seeded number one and number two based on winning percentage in conference competition. The rest shall be seeded numbers three through 12 based on winning percentage without regard to division.

So two division winners are #1 and #2 seeds. #3 and #4 seeds, which get byes, are seeded by winning percentage regardless of division. #5 seed will sort of get a break by facing off against a weak team (UGA or TN) in first game.

These statements seem mutually exclusive.
I have never felt sorry an SEC opponent (other than injury). No matter how bad the carnage I enjoy it when the Tigers put an arse whipping on our SEC "brethren". No score is too obscene. Give no quarter and expect no quarter.
