I'm 40 years old, and I think tomorrow will make my 5th time carrying a gun on a deer hunt. I have nothing against it. I've just always enjoyed bow hunting more. Also, I really haven't done a lot of deer hunting during the past 15 years.

But, anyway, my dad has gotten older and finally put down his bows and picked up a gun again. I haven't hunted with him all year, so I gave him a call and we made plans to go. I don't even own a deer rifle. I'm going to have to borrow one of the three he's bought this year.

Anyway, wish me luck. I need some meat for the freezer.

It not about the hunt, it the time you spend with you father while he's here on Earth.

Bring the Falcon deer hunting.

Enjoy the time with Dad. My Dad just turned 57 yesterday. I appreciate every beer I get to drink with him.

Yes, time with Dad is why I'm going. He's 64, so who knows how much longer he'll be hunting.

Dont matter if you bring a rubberband gun to the stand, hunting with pops is always a good time.

good luck

I hunted from 2007 until 2015 with bow only... My kids started hunting last year with a gun so I found myself getting into it a little more.

I actually bought myself a 35 Whelen this year and killed a couple of deer with it. Those box blinds are way more comfortable than my bow stands on a cold morning.

I will be back in the bow stand next weekend in Area 6... Bringing my 66 year old dad with his crossbow!!
Last Hoorah for the year!!

Mine is 78, and still climbs up his 12 ft ladder to get in his stand. And i'm a nervous wreck the entire time. But hopefully you still have a lot of good years ahead.

Gun hunting can still be challenging. Big bucks dont like to be shot.

My dad made some trips with me to the camp in Arkansas in 2013 and 2014 when he was about 71-72. We each shot deer and had some good times but I could tell he was not long for hunting. He's still kicking, but can't really walk in the woods or climb (into stands) anymore. Next year he wants to come to camp again just to cook, play his guitar and get away from Mama for a minute.

Have a great time with your dad.
