Now, I'm super pumped for Rogue One and I understand that it's VERY difficult to rank this movie above Mel Gibson's masterpiece, Hacksaw Ridge.

But without having seen Rogue One yet, I'm only ranking Hell or High Water above Hacksaw because simply put it surprised me more.

I'm a YUGE fan of Gibson as a director! I already knew Hacksaw Ridge would be fantastic (and it lived up to hype and more). Gibson movies don't surprise me. I already know with certainty a Gibson directed movie will be an incredible experience so the only question I have when a new Gibson film is released: Just how incredible will the movie be?!!!

But I had no clue what to expect with Hell or High Water. I had read it was good, but then again I read that Bone Tomahawk, The Witch, and Deadpool were awesome when in reality BT was boring (except for "the scene"), TW was snail slow and had zero payoff, and DP was quite simply overrated.

So forgive me if I was somewhat apprehensive.

But Hell of High Water, in my opinion, is an American Classic! It was that good. Been thnking about it for the past 24 hours.

For once, I actually agree with Mizzou. This was a very good movie, and might be one of my favorites this year.

I liked Hacksaw Ridge OK, but not as much as you. I think I agree that Hell or High Water is the best movie I've seen this year.

The movie was too slow for me, but solid.

What happened to the Indian pissed me off.

I have to agree. Saw it last night. Finally a good role for Chris Pine! Bridges made it great though!

The previews for Hacksaw Ridge threw me off. It looked like Andrew Garfield went full retard for the part.

Same lady in the motel from No Country.

It was decent but a poor mans version of NCFOM. Tried really hard to be like it with less talented actors other than Ben Foster.

There aren't any threads about this movie on the first NINE pages of the M/TV Board. Starting a thread about this movie is perfectly warranted.

I enjoyed Nocturnal Animals more. Another one set largely in west Texas.
