We could do a lot worse with a risky bad hire, Cutcliffe would win a lot of games w LSU talent. All assuming we strike out on Herman and Jimbo.

Let this one soak in and you may come out thinking this ain't so bad at all. Cutcliffe will make a great bridge for the university from miles, is offensive minded and is an extremely safe and moderately cheap option.

David Cutcliffe ain't getting another head job. He's getting up there and has had some serious health problems.

Also, there is no such thing as HCIW any more as a practical matter. As an aside, frick Texas for creating that bullshite. Now mouthbreathers suggest that shite nonstop.

You would be correct it wouldn't be the worse hire. And he will win games. He is a great QB coach.

That's a great reason to start this idiotic thread. "Hey I'd rather Holgerson than Hallman..."

Well when we seem to be this close to that type of hire then it's an awesome reason to logic especially when Alleva has close ties to Cutcliffe

Ignoring the fact that HCIW isn't a thing because of NCAA rules, I guess. That part is what takes this post to the next level of idiocy, not necessarily knighting for the graying cancer survivor to take over a program that really needs some energy.

Doesn't seem like you are ignoring it. I think your panties are stuck on a plausible concept stuck on technicalities. It's a means to keep Aranda and get him seasoned up.

What makes you think LSU has to settle for some half assed plan like this?

If you look at what he did at Ole Miss and Duke, it's pretty impressive. He was between Tubberville and O at Ole Miss. Tubberville was 12-20 in the SEC. O was 3-21. Cutcliffe was 25-23. He took over a terrible Duke program and has made the competitive with 8, 9 and 10 win seasons. Tenn wanted to hire him post Kiffin. Would I hire a 65 year old coach from Duke? Nope. But if they did, the program would not fall off like you may assume at first glance. He's a good coach.

Name all of the successful coach in waiting situations in college football.

Jimbo, Bowden got forced out and it was a PR mess
Holgorsen, Stewart got pushed out and planted stories about their HCIW
Will Muschamp, left Texas before, undermined Mack, was a disaster at Florida.
James Franklin left Maryland to take the Vandy job.

So basically, you're saying let's do something that has never worked and due to NCAA rules makes our coaching staff worse. Why would anyone do that?
