Actually thought the Saban hire was the best in years. He had brought michigan state back from friggin nowhere. I don't think people remember how bad they were pre Saban. I had no doubt LSU would no longer be an automatic w.

Why are fans completely delusional? Pearls had as good or better results than Saban did. The '94 season he went 5-6, and the NCAA found nothing on him after 2 investigations, but the university self imposed forfeiting his 5 wins and then fired him. Saban came down south where he got LSU brass to give him all the added staff, build new complexes, and learn where the true hot bed of recruiting is in the south. He already had this mastered when he took the Bama job. As he gets older and grows more tired, he hires more and more "associates, advisors and staff". He was never afforded that at Michigan State. LSU is where he truly became the coach he is now with the total package of recruiting, staffing and complexes for athletes.

Is one of the best in the business. Would love to have him back at LSU.

Saban brought him in as a consultant to show how he beat the brakes off bama

Mind blown. Honestly did not know that until you mentioned it here. Just googled it, and read the kirby smart interview. Really interesting stuff. That's really impressive, imo.

Teams do this a lot, especially Saban. they even bring in high school coaches, etc. He's such a perfectionist and student of the game, its what makes him the best. For some reason, bringing in Tom Herman got a lot of publicity.

1) 2000 against Miss. State. This was a tough game. Not many yards. Then in the 4th quarter, holes opening up all over the line. Joe Lee Dunn could do nothing about it. And Fisher just kept calling runs one after the other. over and over again, gashing them.

and that was MOo U's best team in ages under jackie. Porkchop Womack was a bad arse lineman. We also used same strategy to beat Moo U in 2002. mauck was doing terrible passing and jimbo said F it run the damn ball. boy did we.
