No one thinks that.

They should but our admin doesn't reach out with red carpet like others do at USC, Texas, etc
You really have no idea what they do.

but our admin gets second tier coaches in many sports here then sells it to us as who was available and who a deal could be struck with.
Let's face it, in most other sports we are second tier.

No, you're arrogant. And stupid.

We are a top 5 coaching destination in the country. Fact.

So you don't think LSU is a better job than Houston?
Serious question.
Serious question.

Your post is weird and doesn't make sense. We're arrogant because we think we can call the top guys? But then our administration doesn't think big enough and we hire scrubs?
Which is it?
Which is it?

If you're on the board and can't make changes to the way the board handles business, it sounds like you just sit back and take it, then quit. LSU doesn't seem to be taking that approach by canning a coach like Les 4 games into the season after what happened last year giving him another chance.
Arrogance you say? How about the fact that when we get a top tier coach it is a program that is ready made to dominate most of college football. In our prime under Saban and the beginning of Miles era, we crushed the best names in the sport:
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Oregon in their prime
Alabama and the rest of the SEC (other than Florida in their prime)
Top 10 Va Tech
Notre Dame
and the list could go on
Why do you think they let Les go so early? They are getting setup to make a home run hire and invest in a program built to dominate. It wouldn't happen otherwise, but if it does the people with sway will crush the poor decision makers. These decisions don't happen in a bubble because college football is so visible. If LSU fails on this move, it would destroy the credibility of everyone involved in the process. If they make a great hire that doesn't work out then so be it, but if they settle and fail it will end very badly for the decision makers.
BE POSITIVE

There are two approaches LSU can take. Ask for applications for the head coaching position and select from the applicants, or identify acceptable candidates and make them offers. Which method has proven more successful in the past at LSU other winning programs and LSU. I think it is safe to say the targeted offer approach has been more successful.
One would hope that searches for football head coaches are infrequent, and that is true for LSU. 3 searches in the 21 years since 1995. The circumstances are different for this search, and they should work to LSU's benefit. The head coaching position at LSU is an attractive position. Those interested in the position will ask themselves, can I do better than Les Miles with the resources available. I believe anyone with a competitive nature and a modicum of self-confidence would think they could exceed Miles' results. I don't think it is arrogance to believe that there will be interest in listening to an LSU offer.
